Don't get me wrong, I don't want to go back to being a 13 year old kid. I enjoy being an adult. I like the fact that I am able to go out and buy any controlled substance that I can legally procure. I love that I have can have coitus and appreciate it. But the best thing of all is, I own my own place, I make my own money, and nobody can tell me what to do.
Sure, you have to work to make money, but its better than sitting in a school that cares more about throwing kids into uncomfortable social situations than teaching them anything. There's nothing better than getting your paycheck and contemplating what you can get with all those monies. I just wish that I could have my cake and eat it too. Who wouldn't love to have enough time to do everything they want and get paid for it?
Even coming to this website, being a staff writer would be great right? Getting to play games and get paid at the same time? Win? Maybe not so much. Don't forget that as a professional you have to approach each game with a grain of salt and look at them seriously and play each game. I don't know about most of you, but I would hate to have to review games that I had NO interest in playing. But I digress...
Back to the topic at hand...does getting older mean that I am any less of a gamer?!? Honestly, I'd have to say yes, because a true gamer cares not about work or responsibilities, just like the Otaku of Japan a true gamer would live off of macaroni & cheese and save the rest for their next gaming fix. I can't live that way...I have to do other things, whether it be going to the gym or out to a nice restaurant, I can't stay plugged in all of the time.
Is there any wonder that a 14 year old can mop the floor with you in Halo? Do you all wonder why kids kick so much ass at Guitar Hero? It's just as simple that the kids have more time to spend playing those games because if they were anything like me...their life at home generally sucked. That's not to say that good gamers all escape from real life, but it is what I did.
So, what's your opinion? How many of you regulars are over 20? How many are younguns? What do you think, do you wish that you could return to being young, or do you revel in your life as an adult as I do? You young people, what do you think? Thanks for reading.
