I got a chance to play the Switch at Best Buy months ago. Mario Kart 8 was running on it and after a couple of minutes I walked away unimpressed. One part of the problem is I already bought, played and completed Mario Kart 8 on WiiU. The other part of the problem is the game kiosk sucked not allowing for a more comfortable playing experience. Fast forward to a little over a week ago and I decided to give the Switch another try after hearing the cries of support from the Nintendo faithful of which I was once among the ranks a generation ago. After reading up on the current state of the Switch library, games to come, sales, reviews etc I decided to purchased a Switch. I also picked up a 200GB mSD Card and two games, Zelda and Splatoon 2. After one night of playing Zelda and Splatoon 2, I bought Fast RMX, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and downloaded the demos of Monster Hunter XX and Puyo Puyo Tetris. I was awestruck. Playing Zelda - "Holy shit, look at the draw distance...wait...I can actually climb that mountain? Dude! I just cooked a awesome meal...with MEAT! "You must become one with the forest for a successful hunt..." Playing Fast RMX - "Dude, Nintendo should have just bought the Shin'en and called this F-Zero. OMG the track designs are insane! It's fast. I can't believe this looks almost as good as WipeOut: Omega Collection on PS4!" Playing Splatoon 2 online - "Jeez, this is running at 60FPS online with no problem on a mobile battery. HAHA! Great shot with the aerial assault, WE WIN! I did not expect gyroscope aiming to work so well with this game." Playing Monster Hunter XX Demo - "I will never go back to 3DS again. THIS is how Monster Hunter is supposed to be played! I can actually SEE the textures instead of a nasty, pixelated mess! Fuck you Capcom for not releasing this outside of Japan on Switch!" So...to all of those people I debated against, doubting the Switch, I apologize. I bought one, I'm playing it, I'm loving it. I was wrong and now can totally understand why legions are lining up to buy Nintendo's latest. There are still some concerns I have with the Switch but overall, it is truly a fantastic piece of kit that is more compelling that PS4 and XBox 1 because...not only is it powerful, it's portable.
