Words fail to describe how awesome Scott Pilgrim is. If you like comics and video games, there no reason why you shouldn't be reading the Scott Pilgrim series, right now, at this very moment. I made the mistake of letting the current three volumes sit on the shelf in my room after a friend lent them to me along with other books. After finally seeing the error of my ways and reading them all in one night, I proceeded to then yell at said friend for neglecting to tell me how awesome they were.
Greatest thing to come from Canada. EVER. Impressive considering stiff competition like Colin Mockery, Alanis Morissette, and instant mashed potatoes.
Basically, the Scott Pilgrim series, by Bryan Lee O'Malley, is about 23 year old Torontoian Scott Pilgrim, his band called Sex Bomb-omb, and his misadventures with women and dating. I'll try to keep this relatively spoiler-free but to give you an idea, the plot basically revolves around his newfound love interest Ramona, whom in order to date he must defeat her seven evil ex boyfriends (they even drop change when defeated!). All of this is compounded by a brief relationship with a neurotic Asian high school girl named Knives Chau... yeah, you can probably see where that's leading. Then of course you add in baggage from his past relationships, his highly entertaining gay roommate, and Vegans with psychic power and you got yourself a damn good comic series.
There probably isn't much more that I could say to convince you to read this without spoiling anything, so go out and get it. You won't be disappointed.
