I've never been a major Microsoft fan. Their consoles are fine. The first Xbox is good and the 360 is pretty swell (after they fixed the Red Ring issue). However, I've held out of getting an XBOne for two main reasons. 1) The XBOne, from what I've heard from friends who own one, has some issues including slow loading and 2) none of its exclusive games are "must-haves" for me. Never been a Halo fan, nor a Gears of War fan. I was planning on getting one for Scalebound but, well…you know. So anyway, Microsoft has a big task ahead of them to convince me getting an XBOne would be a good idea.
Battletoads - I played Battletoads on NES a lot as a kid. To the point where even though I now acknowledge the game isn't very well designed, I still have a lot of affection for the property. A new, well made, Battletoads would definitely incentivize me toward the XBOne. Not much else to say. Battletoads.
Banjo Kazooie - #confessiontoid I don't really like Banjo Kazooie/Tooie. I generally find most of Rare's N64 games to be nowhere near as good as people seem to hype them up as. That being said, I do enjoy the mascot platformer sub genre, and I did enjoy Yooka Laylee enough that I believe that if the right team was behind it, a Banjo revival could be good. And more importantly, I would take a new game as a sign that Microsoft was finally listening to their fans and giving them what they want.
Killer Instinct 2 - Killer Instinct is one of the few games that still makes me want an XBOne. So announcing a sequel would definitely make me even more so. I just kind of hope they ditch the free-to-play model, as I don't really enjoy that model much. But still, the KI reboot is one of the XBOne's big selling points, so it would be foolish of Microsoft not to continue the series.
Blinx 3 - It's time to bring this character out of retirement. I'm not sure why Microsoft hasn't done anything with him for so long, but they're hurting for exclusives, so why not resurrect this IP? There's been a small resurgence of mascot platformers lately, and the audience is definitely there. I'd definitely get an XBOne for a new Blinx game.
New Kameo - Never played a Kameo game. But Microsoft owns the IP and should probably do something with it. Seriously, they have nothing really to lose. I don't have much to say about this one, sorry.
Perfect Dark - DOOM 2016 was a great game. One of the reasons I loved it was because it felt like a natural evolution of the old(ish) school arcade-y FPS. If Microsoft could give Perfect Dark a similar treatment, it would definitely make me want it.
Well, that's it, I guess. I know this lost is pretty short, and I'm sorry about that, but I said before I'm not a big Microsoft fan, so unfortunately I don't have much to anticipate from them. I do hope they bring some interesting announcements this year, and sell me on an XBOne. With that said, here's to hoping for a pleasant surprise form Microsoft this year!
