31 Days: Day 14 - Hail the Nightmare

Hello everyone and welcome to what is now the 14th installment of 31 Days. Since we are almost midway through I feel this song is very apt.

Bloodborne – Hail the Nightmare

From what I’ve been able to dig up there seems to be mentioned of cursed beast and redemption in blood, but beyond that I can’t find anything solid. I really do wish these songs came with the lyrics as I’m always interested in what they’re saying. Then again it could be nothing hence why there are never any lyrics. The song doesn’t have much too it, it’s actually quite a simple tune with nothing too complex as far as instruments are concerned. The real work is done by the vocals which really set the tone. This however brings me back to the beginning where I wish I could understand what is being said.

Regardless the song has yet to disappoint me. The atmosphere of Hypogean goal is perfect and the mystery surrounding the area equally so. There are tons of statues all huddled up in corners and against the wall as if hiding or trying to escape. To get there early you have to let a kidnapper murder you and then you’ll end up in a cell, which you can escape.  In its early state Hypogean is filled with kidnappers and hags. There is also a giant pig, and some dogs, and that’s about it. It appears that this is where the kidnappers take their victims to perform who knows what kind of rituals.

By the time we get there the second time the place is vastly different. All the kidnappers are dead and replaced by enemies know as cramped caskets.

These enemies seem to be located by or near the corpses of kidnappers. It is my belief that possibly as a result of all the death brought about by the kidnappers, and the result of the creation of the One Reborn, created the cramped caskets which in turn killed the kidnappers. Perhaps this is why Hypogean is so empty, the inhabitance of the area have been killed or sacrificed for the creation of the one reborn.

Mind you this all just speculation on my part, but that’s just part of the fun of these games.

The souls/borne games carry a little something for everyone and it’s approach to games are some of the best you can ever find. So why not enjoy it yourself with this code here (BB16) and send it over to [email protected] Com with your username, where I dear reader will provide you with a code to enter into your ps4. As always enjoy.

Who is Agent9? The not so secret agent of the destructoid community.

A Few things about me

- I'm almost finished with my degree in computer science and I plan on going into independent development and freelancing once I'm done.

- I can be very cynical, but I do try to be positive or curb my negativity. In spite of this I'm actually very jovial in person and I don't get mad often. I would dare say I'm quite happy, even when things seem bleak. I simply don't like industry Bullshit and I'm not one to stand for it, even if it's a game I like.

- I host a series annually called 31 Days where I post 1 horror related or themed video game song a day for the month of october. During this time I also provide keys for games (free of course) to any reader observant enough to find them.

- I've been a member of destructoid since 2010, and a lurker long before then. As such I've seen many people both come and go. Such is the natural order of things.

- I enjoy Art and draw in my spare time

- I also enjoy theatre and films. I especially like Horror movies (both good and bad ones).

- I go camping once or twice a year. I would go out more but my allergies tend to get in the way.

- I don't drink, which may be a surprise to some. I might make a joke or two about it but I stay away from alcohol for my own personal reasons, though you can feel free to drink a pint on my behalf any time you'd like.

This is a commission I had done for me by Inquisitive Ravenclaw. You should check out his site if you like the following piece

I also got a musical piece made for me by the incredible Alphadeus. A little history behind this:

My musical piece came as part of the Songs for Gamers album DLC pack 02. Alphadeus has been making songs for the members of the destructoid community for years already. This past year he opened submissions and I applied. For my meagre efforts I received this lovely piece:

You can find him on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFs2UhJYPVITYWCiqMk-z3w

He also has other venues listed on his profile here, take a look if you are so inclined:

The community is full of people with all kinds of talent and I'm very pleased to be a part of it along with all of you (yes, you too fair reader).
