I haven't done one of these in a while, but I thought with E3 just a few weeks away, it would be good to give an update of what is going on behind the scenes with the community team.
As you may know, we recently added ShadeOfLight to the community team. Mike and I had more or less became too mired in our daily jobs to promote blogs with the same regularity, plus each community manager have differing roles. Strider mostly promotes blogs and helps organize Bloggers Wanted, Occams moderates and promotes here and there, Mike organizes the contests and helps with accounts. I moderate, promote what I can and help with Bloggers Wanted. And we all kill spam where we can. So Shade came on to assist with promotions and pitch in his ideas.
That said, the Destructoid Terms of Service will be updated soon. For people that understand how to be respectful and not attack/harass each other, not much is really changing. This is more for the people who try to bend the rules or the dummies that dance near the fine line in the sand/snow not suspecting sprites and catbearded men with sniper rifles may be lying in wait to put them down.
Since I was tagged for the rewrite, my goal is to get the ToS a little more specific and succinct before E3 since we see a big influx of new users during this time of year. Should be finishing that up soon.
Which brings me to my last point. In the last year, the moderation team has become a bit more lean, with fewer hands touching comments. This leads to fewer problems most of the time unless Carter gives a Bethesda game a 7 or Whitaker and Holmes say mildly progressive things within earshot of the image board brigade.
We still manage pretty well. E3 is a situation in which a lean team doesn't work out so well, though, and so we will be looking to take on some mods for the weeks before, during and after the show. We're already considering some members, but if you're interested in helping out, leave a comment!
Obviously, we're going to consider regulars in good standing that will moderate by the ToS and their best judgement. If you want to help us carry the load and help keep the comments clean during E3, let us know in the comments below and after we make our picks we'll get in touch!
That's all for now!
