NEWS: Majora's Mask New 3DS XL sold out in UK!?

   0

Amidst all the *cough* excitement going on in the USA regarding the rapid selling-out of the limited New 3DS XL Majora’s Mask Edition console at major retailers, the situation in the UK seems to have been overlooked, and has gone from dire to… well, same as the USA really. Earlier on today I was informed by the retailer Game (the biggest dedicated videogames outlet here in “old blighty”) that they would not be stocking the new limited edition console at all, and in fact it is completely exclusive to Nintendo’s online store; which means no Amazon either.

For those lucky few managing to work all this out in time they hopefully managed to blag themselves one of the rare-as-unicorn-crap consoles, because now the pre-orders have completely sold out!! As pictured right, you can no longer purchase the New 3DS XL Majora’s Mask Edition console at Nintendo UK’s webstore, presumably meaning that you can no longer buy them in the UK, if the whole exclusivity thing is true. Damn.

The real salt in the wound is that the afore mentioned console was also a package by Nintendo UK containing the game pre-installed (unlike the USA release), a free charger, and with the limited Skull Kid figurine to boot. You can still get the figurine with some other packages they’re running though, including New 3DS and New 3DS XLs, mainly of the metallic blue variety, so check the webstore for those. As for the Majora’s Mask 3D Special Edition package, containing an exclusive steelbook case, pin badge and poster in a posh box, they’re currently still available.

Pictured left you can see that they’re still up for pre-order on Nintendo UK’s store, but for how much longer? Already the retailer Game has sold out completely of the limited quantities they were given, with no chance of anymore coming in and being made available. Yet again, the threat of not being able to return stock could be the cause for the small numbers up for purchase, and the increased amount on Nintendo’s store could be the result of cancelled pre-orders after the announcement of the limited edition console with preinstalled software.

About n0signalone of us since 2:01 AM on 10.06.2014

Videogames have come a long way since the 8-bit and 16-bit days of old, and it is now one of the most interesting and constantly-evolving storytelling mediums. I started blogging about videogames a few years ago because I am very passionate about certain experiences I've had, which I don't think could have existed outside of our unique hobby, and I wanted to share this with other like-minded people on the internet.

I'm based in the UK and my favourite videogame of all time is probably still Shadow of the Colossus, but other more recent games such as the impeccable Dark Souls and Journey have given it a run for its money. My other interests, and things I have blogged extensively about, are board games and Japanese anime. I've got a degree in Media Communications and Film, and I'm currently a Teacher of ICT.

I post fairly regularly on my personal blog at https://n0timportant.blogspot.co.uk/, so please visit there for legacy videogame reviews and articles on anime, boardgames, etc.
