E3 Approaches: My (mostly) reasonable E3 2011 Wishlist 2: Electric Boogaloo

So, Zone of the Enders is getting an HD collection. I should've put that on my first wishlist so that after it was revealed, I could put on a turban and pretend to be a psychic from that point on. It'd be like that TV show Psych, except without all the murder cases.

Okay, okay. After downing multiple bottles of grape juice and dreaming about being a duck in a tophat on the moon, I've come up with another short list of things I'd like to see happen at E3 this year. Keep in mind that this is in no particular order and this is all stuff I'm thinking off of the top of my head. So if I forget a bunch of other stuff, now you know why.

Psychonauts 2
You'd think a guy with a Rasputin avatar would mention this in his first wishlist. Seriously, how'd I miss that? Now I know the guys at Double Fine are busy working on games like Trenched and the new Sesame Street game for the Kinect, but I see no reason why you can't just give us a sequel. I mean, the first game's ending set itself up nicely for a sequel for those who really want it. And I know you want it, Tim. Trust us, we want it too.

Can I have some more?

Beyond Good and Evil 2
Ubisoft, just come out and tell us already. You know we want it. You've repeatedly said that it's in development. And no, I don't want just a small gameplay video. I want a full-blown announcement. I mean, I just bought Beyond Good and Evil HD on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Please stop jerking us around on this one!

Tales of VS. to come to North America
This one is mostly likely not going to happen. I mean, the PSP is pretty much dead in the water, what with the Vita on the horizon and PSP games now getting remade on the PS3 (forgot about your PS2 remakes, eh Sony?). Plus, given Tales of Vesperia's disappointing sales overseas and Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology's lukewarm reception, it's no wonder Namco Bandai decided not to release their other Tales projects outside of Japan. That, and some of the characters aren't even well-known outside of Japan. But hey, that didn't stop Super Smash Bros. Melee from featuring Marth and Roy, who were from the then-Japan-exclusive Fire Emblem series. And look what happened after that? I'm just saying.

Oh! While I'm talking about Fire Emblem...

Fire Emblem: Shin Monshō no Nazo: Hikari to Kage no Eiyū gets released internationally and Fire Emblem: Fūin no Tsurugi gets remade for the DS.

This wish is partially because I'd like to see more out of the Fire Emblem series, but mostly because I want to see Roy make a return to the next Smash Bros game. I know he's a clone, but they can always change his moveset, like they did with Ganondorf in Brawl. Oh, wait.

A Rocket Knight sequel
Okay, so Rocket Knight on the XBLA/PSN was a tad on the expensive side. That didn't stop it from being fun. Plus, I like jetpacks. A lot. Probably a little too much. I still have the Dark Void demo on my PS3, for crying out loud.

It feels so good.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 was released late last year to some fanfare. Well, mostly fanfare, anyways. While Episode 2 has been confirmed to be in production a few months ago, it's been a long time since we've actually heard from them about it. Plus, with Sonic Generations out on the horizon, I get the sneaking suspicion that Episode 2 has been pushed back so Sonic Team can focus on this new game. I just hope they don't forget that Episode 1 was actually a success, despite being made by the same guys who thought this was a good idea.

New F-Zero Game
As far as I'm concerned, the last good F-Zero game was GX. Yeah, it's plot was ridiculous and the campaign/races were hard as I was playing the new Rocket Knight, but it was still pretty damn fun. I like the fact that one of the levels in Smash Bros. Brawl was a track taken straight from GX, so I think there's hope for the series, yet. I'd say the best way to go is to make F-Zero games for the 3DS. And by that, I mean one that ISN'T a port. Yeah, they're nice and all, but I want a new friggin' game! I'm a little upset that most of the games coming down the pipe are just ports of older games in 3D. Give me something new to play, damnit!

And finally,

A game about staring a platypus.

Seriously? Why has no one thought of this, yet? We have an industry where you could play as a slightly obese plummer, a headhog on crack, a psychic kid travelling through people's imaginations, a space marine fighting aliens, a douchebag fighting aliens, a badass assassin in the Renaissance, an opossum with a jetpack, and even a squirrel in a hazmat suit, but there isn't one game about a platypus? That's a great injustice, if you ask me. Someone needs to make this game happen. It can be released on the Xbox Live Indie Games channel for all I care, so long as I can get a good game where I get to play as a platypus. If you give it a jetpack, then I'll give you my money, regardless of quality.

Alright, that's it. I'm done. That last idea completely drained my imagination with its sheer awesomeness alone. I'm not gonna make another wishlist for E3 after this one. I can't even concentrate after this last ingenius idea. Besides, it's only a few more days until E3. I couldn't possibly wish for more stuff by then. I'll see you guys after E3's over.
