Calling: the hilarity and horror.

On a rather dreary Sunday afternoon, I was itching for a new survival horror game. After trips to several stores, and a good bit of frustration, I found Calling for the Wii in the bargain bin.

First and foremost, just because it's a "bargain bin" game, certainly doesn't mean it's going to suck. I was pretty impressed with this gem.

The Plot: Interweavings of several different characters unravel the truth behind a mysterious chatroom, in which all that participate meet some sort of untimely end. Various cell phones (each with it's own unique background picture. A nice touch I might say) plays an extensive role in the plot and gameplay.

Pros: The atmosphere is incredible. From the very beginning, you're on the edge of your seat. There are quite a few "OH S$&*#" moments, and lots of random goodies to find that add to the overall horror aspect of the game. There are also many (unintentionally) hilarious scenes. You have no way of defending yourself from the angry spirits in this game, which I feel aids in the psychological aspect of the game. Once you are attacked, all that can be done is fight off the spirit, and run for it. This style of game is NOT for everyone.

Cons: Very little replay value, aside from unlocking a few chapters where you can play as different characters. Also, if you're not a fan of doing things in a certain order, or finding items in a SPECIFIC ORDER to trigger certain events, you may want to pass this game up. Plenty of time was wasted on this aspect of the game. Amount of playtime you get is also very limited, averaging between 4-5 hours.

Overall: On a ten point scale, I would give this game a 6.5/10. If you love the horror genre, give this game a try. The frustration is well worth it for the bounty of scares and laughs this game provides.

I've been gaming since the ripe age of 3, when my father traded his gun for a Nintendo.

My life would never be the same.

Currently, I'm into survival horror. Particularly Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, and Resident Evil.
I also enjoy co-op with my awesome boyfriend.
