Today is Google Domination day, Why you ask? Because Google just PWN3D every other company out there trying to impose their self propietary stuff to us. Google has just set us Free (or at least until that fateful day that judgement day arises and aka google-(Skynet) take over and nuke the effin world). Until then... Google has set us free!
Well in what you may ask? well for starters Google announced Froyo. wtf is this?
- Supports fast as ???? tethering & mobile hotspot
- supports Flash 10.1
- updates apps and music OTA... with Froyo, when you download an app to your computer you don't need to tether your phone. Instead, the update will automatically be installed over-the-air to your device. Same goes with music you buy. Hear that, iPhone users? No syncing required. You'll also be able to stream your (non-DRM) iTunes library wirelessly to your Froyo phone.
Google opened the first free video codec for w/e... VP8
. and the most noctorious man in the world is not too happy about this...
"VP8 is simply way too similar to H.264: a pithy, if slightly inaccurate, description of VP8 would be "H.264 Baseline Profile with a better entropy coder". Though I am not a lawyer, I simply cannot believe that they will be able to get away with this, especially in today's overly litigious day and age. Even VC-1 differed more from H.264 than VP8 does, and even VC-1 didn't manage to escape the clutches of software patents. Until we get some hard evidence that VP8 is safe, I would be extremely cautious."
Now Google TV... This will most defenetly not fail like Apple TV...
even Sony has bowed down to its rule...
and since its submission to the master, not just Sony but the CEOs of Google, Sony, Adobe, Intel, Logitech, Best Buy, Dish sit together about how they can integrate with Google. Apple is feeling a bit left out here...
In fact... Google THINKS its our Savior its scary... "If we did not act, we faced a draconian future. Where one man, one company, one carrier was the future." —
wow that is scary, now they think they are our savior... I think they are o_O. What do you think? are they a super evil empire trying to take over the world? you know, like Apple and Microsoft. Well if you say yes, I ask you this, Google hasn't created 1 hardware for any of these new innovations, everything they do is Software like and they allow anyone to access it and as far as ive been around they have never done anything close to being a control freak like Jobs.
So what does this have to do with gaming? Well this...
"If we really cut to the chase for why this matters for Unity, it’s because what we’re showing is Unity running in Chrome with no plugin at all. That’s right, there’s no Unity Web Player installed on the machines running Unity content in Chrome. Rather, with Google’s clever technology, we’re running Unity content in Chrome using just default access and no additional installation or user interaction. It’s kind of wild!"
In other words, playing games straight off Google's browser, Chrome. No need to install any plugins or anything, people can make games that play straight from the browser. Games such as Quake. Something Apple doesn't like one bit.
So as you can see... today is Google Domination Day. The stuff they are providing is insane and it will be virtually impossible to catch up.
