Konnichiwa, Fitches. Lemme hum you a tune for a minute.
On Getting Older-
This Monday, I celebrated turning 31 years old. Taking a moment to reflect, this is not the life I thought I would have when I thought about my future 10 years ago. I imagined a house instead of an apartment. 6 figures instead of 5. 1 kid instead of 2 cats. Most every good idea I've had about carving out a good life has blown up or otherwise become a null factor. Nearly everything has very much not gone according to plan.
And yet I'm still playing, and I'm still having a good time of this whole life thing! If I could give you one piece of advice you didn't ask for: Sheet music is great, but once you're playing the notes, it doesn't actually matter. Silent Hill Shattered Memories is OK-
Maybe I should E for Effort this game. Survival horror just doesn't light my fire, even though the game is completely respectable and pretty excellent technically and moodwise. But I guess its not my thing. Given a week to just play games (say, not a bad idea, right?) I'd probably get down to it, look at it, thinking about playing it, and just play Oblivion for the first time. Back to Gamefly you go.
Cave Story is Tight-
Diverse gave me the hook up, and, briefly, that jam is tight. I'm not sure how far I actually am (I got Curly's Bubble), but its been way satisfying. There just something special about controlling a little dude and shooting things to pieces.
Yeah, I bought Mega Man 4 again-
Want to fight about it? There's just something special about controlling a little dude and shooting things to pieces.
Anthony Burch is going. :( -
Grats to you, Reverend. You will be missed. Your rants, your articles, your perspective (however frustrating in some contexts), and the indie articles that I didn't read about games that I usually couldn't play. All of it. Dtoid won't be the same without ya.
I got an iPod Touch!-
These things are amazing!! Anybody got any app/game suggestions? I've been trying to outfit my iTouch like a small functional computer. Word processor, music writing software, drawing app, all that cool functional stuff. My favorite game is still Canabalt, which is kinda crazy. Infinity Gene lite was awesome though, and I'll be giving the big boy version a spin at some point. Any other shmups?
If I didn't need to get to bed post-haste, I'd go and on about how amazing the idea of playing X-Com with a touch screen is. As I lose steam, I'll just leave this here.
There's hope yet for X-Com style gaming working its way into the modern language of gaming.
