A Portal into a New Point of View

I think most Gamers over twenty-five are sick of innovation for innovation sake; we remember the days when games just had to fun. However, Portal has shown us that innovation can be amazing when paired with clever, subtle storytelling, and entertaining gameplay. Second Person POV might not be dominating the shelves by next Christmas, but I believe itís a new element of gameplay to watch for. Portal, if it taught us nothing besides donít trust robotic voices promising cake, it taught us that game play does not have to be limited by human point of views of reality. I think seeing yourself through your own eyes is something the industry will play with a bit more in years to come.

About Christopher J Oatisone of us since 12:50 PM on 08.20.2008

I am a staff writer for USAPROGMUSIC.COM, WWW.NOROOOMINHELL.COM and a freelance writer of all kinds of fiction. My most recent published work won GAMECOCK Media's MUSHROOM MEN Contest. I am currently earning my Masters in Writing and putting together my first Novel as a Thesis.

I am an old school Gamer at heart, and most of my work measures the new against the old as I feel some of today's games have sold their hearts for the price of innovation.
