I've been a gamer all my life. I started off in the PC world, moved onto consoles a few years later and I mix the two now. However I've always wanted to play tabletops, but living in the urban community, people to just simply meet on the street are few and far between. I saw a few people posting ads for playing partners on Craigslist not too long ago when I was looking to sell my couch, and it got that fire burning in me again to try and pick up the whole tabletop thing.
My problem is that I'm a giant noob when it comes to these things. I've never played a round in my life. I have a loose understanding of the D&D rules back from when I played Neverwinter Nights, but I don't think I can equate that to playing a live game.
Does anyone have any tips on how to get started and not seem like the giant nub bringing the entire game down when I finally have the courage to hit one of those people up on Craigslist and join a session?
