According to some idiot in Sony PR (there seems to be a lot of those in there): "LBP would sell more if other games didn't exist".
The gaming industry manages to suprise me everyday, is incredible, and is not because all of those hyped games were perfect 10/10.
Lets take a look at all the games releases this year so far... is this the movie business? I dont think so, people dont just "play" more games over the weekends as they tend to go more to the cinema over the end of the week. Playing a game is like watching TV or having another hobby that you do when you arrive after a day out there looking for a job, is not something that you just do in November or December after getting drunk on those end years parties.
Doesnt the developers and the publishers know this allready? Dont they know that the base they sell to is going to buy a game anyway in March or December if the game is worth it? Most gamers are older than 20, so they dont believe in Santa anymore. If the kind of games you see on shelves on November-December were the Wii crap for family or kids then that would make sense. But thats not the case of a game like Gears Of War or Wrath of the Linch King, you can launch those in the middle of an atomic fallout and you will sell them anyway.
Triple A titles should come along the year, sales would be equally good if they are oriented at the hardcore audience that knows about games. Maybe you can make the argument that some games just "need" to be realeased on November-December, but a bad game is bad game and a good game is great forever, that means until the end of the year and beyond.
So really Iam pissed, too many games to play, I dont have the time to enjoy them or the money to buy them all, right now Im in the L4D STEAM thingie and I wont get off until I get bored.
So Sony and great minds of the gaming industry, stop beign such a dickheads,
