Zombie Wranglers wangles its way onto XBLA photo

While much has been made of Ghostbusters, Brutal Legend and even WET, an Xbox Live Arcade game from Frozen Codebase also suffered at the hands of Sierra/Activision merger, ending up as the one of the evil publisher's lesser known victims. However, Zombie Wranglers is back, and due to hit XBLA on May 6.

The cel-shaded zombie blasting game was all set for release back in September 2008 before having the plug pulled. Now everything's straight and the game will appear next month. Previously, the game had the jump on all the zombie games that have flooded the market recently, but it may now get lost in between Burn Zombie Burn and Zombie Apocalypse, not to mention all the retail titles.

Still, it looks like it could be a lot of fun, so here's hoping it does well. Now, what about this awesome sounding women's roller derby videogame that Codebase was supposed to be working on?

Sweet! The zombie-themed game market has been running a tad dry lately.

Never thought I would hear myself saying this but:

Fuck Zombies.

I think I understand why RE jumped the zombie ship now.

The game is actually pretty cute. I gave the producers some playtesting and feedback for this when I was still at Sierra. I would try the demo when it comes out and see if you like it.

I BLAME COD WAW, brought zombie killing to the mainstream, now all the little kids want is zombie this and zombie that. I mean i love nazi zombies and zombie verruckt but all these shit games that have nothing to do with zombies other than ohh they are dead people. It's like zombies are the new nazis. But zombies have feelings to. Sorry for that rant.

I didn't realize that even downloadable games got affected by loss of a publisher. I mean, isn't MS kind of the default publisher for XBLA games?

Yes! A game I tested and thought was dead made it! Buy this (pretty bad) product so my legacy may live on! Did I say it was bad? Best game ever made is what I meant!

I 100% agree with this statement. This is getting old, quick.

I played this about 6 months ago when I worked "in the industry" (as they say) and it was utter pants. Felt like it was a finished product but maybe they've had the time to adjust and tweak it. It plays really loosely and feels like you're doing nothing when you attack the zombies.

What about Lost Cities? It was on XBLA but after the merger seems to have diappeared from the service.

I'm not necessarily tired of zombie stuff, but it's hard to differentiate between everything. Just slapping the word "zombie" in the title isn't enough.
