Following the recent success of Day Z, we will now inevitably see many "me too" games being announced in the coming months. This one, however, appears to be a huge coincidence. Start-up indie studio Hammerpoint Interactive has officially announced their take on the zombie survival MMO will move into Beta very soon with a full release this fall.
Titled The War Z, it will take place in 200 to 400 square kilometer maps, will feature merged PvE and PvP gameplay, safe cities with stores, normal and hardcore modes, and first or third-person perspectives. It's similarities with Day Z are obvious, but I think there's enough differences to be found in War Z that will make it an interesting experience all the same. The "safe cities" and the social elements that include the ability to collect bounties, rewards, help requests, and traps has me extremely interested. Plus, since the environments are built for a zombie apocalypse, they look damn good (as you can see in our gallery below).
You can sign up to get into the beta for War Z over on the game's official site. What do you guys think? Too similar to Day Z? Or does that not bother you?
