     Survival Horror

The official Web site for Techland’s upcoming Xbox 360 and PC-bound survival horror, Dead Island, has been updated with a few new images of the game.

While these screens are nice and all, especially when you consider the fact that Dead Island is an open-world game, it’s a shame they don’t show off the game’s awesome damage model.

The release date for the game is still TBA 2008, so it’s entirely possible that Dead Island will make it to retail before Left 4 Dead, which comes out in November of this year. Either way, I think there's plenty of room for both of 'em.

Does anyone else think that the zombie in these screenshots looks like something out of the Evil Dead trilogy?

They should make a nice Evil Dead game for next gen consoles. I actually enjoyed Evil Dead Regeneration.

@nashb81: You and three other people. Zing.

I need to hear more about this game before I can get totally excited for it. I wanna know how interactive the environments and stuff will be, first and foremost.

If zombies can't break down the door to the room I'm hiding in, smashing it to splinters, and I can't pick up said splinters and jab them in zombie faces for some gory goodness, then this game will fail me. I have my doubts it will succeed on the levels I need it to succeed on to be satisfied.

@ B-Radicate:

This game is being made by the people behind Call of Juarez so I don't think it'll be able to match your lofty expectations.

I like the little I've heard of this more than what I've seen of left for dead, but there's still plenty of time for them to ruin it. It looks awesome right now though.

I'm also interested in Exanimus, but it's hard to get excited with such limited information.

I hate "TBA"! It could be anytime. It could be tomorrow. Or New Years Eve.

Awesome! With all these zombie action games coming out its time for a true survival horror game. You hear me Kirkman?! Walking Dead the videogame!

I'd totally forgotten about this game, and the 2008 date is seeming less and less likely.

I love Zombie anything really. Seeing the little demo of the way a character looks as he deteriorates was interesting and would love to see it in-game. On a side note, where the fux is Dead Rising 2?!?!
