Wait a minute. Does this mean sites related with the 1-Up network like Filefront and Gamevideos are going down? Please fucking GOD say no! I absolutely hated their magazines (especially EGM), but Filefront is the end all be all of game file hosting online, and I'd jump out a window if I lost it ;_;

Anyway, I saw this coming a long ways away. Like Workman said, Ziff has been trying to sell 1up for a long time now. As far as I know, 1up was appealing to several buyers but they were unwilling to sell the website unless the publishing end was a part of the deal too--and game magazines are not the best investment currently.

I don’t really read any gaming sites aside from Dtoid and IGN, but this is sad news nonetheless. Still, this further confirms my belief that print media (in gaming) is dying.
