Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition hitting XBLA next spring photo

Previously, ACE Team co-founder Carlos Bordeu told us about his studios' interest in bringing the delightfully bizarre Zeno Clash over to Xbox LIVE Arcade. Having been powered by the Source Engine on PC, the transition to Xbox 360 for the first-person brawler seemed like the way to go.

And, according to publisher Atlus, it was. As spotted by NeoGAF user Volcynika, the Ultimate Edition will bring new "modes, features, added content, and improvements based on fan feedback." One such addition is the co-op Tower Challenge mode.

ACE Team has been graciously supportive of Zeno Clash on PC post-launch, so it'll be interesting to see if these extra features in the XBLA version get added back to the original by way of a patch. To be fair, I suppose you have to give people a reason to want the shiny new package, right?

Not that the game's melee system didn't work well on the standard mouse plus keyboard combo (it did), but I think tackling Zeno Clash with a controller may very well be something worth experiencing. Also, Achievements -- don't act like you don't want 'em.

This is my first time hearing about this game. Is it similar to anything else that I might know?

Would be nice if any new content get's backported to PC, though I don't really care about a co-op mode for the tower levels. I am happy this will get to be played by people that don't have a PC to play it on anyways. Also Atlus is really branching out with their publishing now. Putting some random puzzle game on Steam, then taking a Steam game and putting it on XBLA? Cool stuff.

It is similar to Streets of Rage or Final Fight. Except it's an FPS and in an awesome crazy world unlike anything you've ever seen in a game. And it has fish guns.

So it's pretty gewd.

I'll probably buy it again. Gotta support these guys. They've got buckets of potential.

@HEL 105@I'm not sure about what you know, but unless you've had a pretty weird trip on LSD about Dune, First Person Shooters, Mad Max, half-animals, FAllout, brutal combat, bestiality, heavy brain damage, throwing up, more drugs, Mickey Mouse, Mickey Mantle, Roger Dean, the good about Psygnosis, Zelda, more drugs and your inner fears I'm pretty sure you haven't.

Download it, man. It's worth it just for the deliciously weird experience. It's the most alien, un-human, unsettling setting I've seen in a game since Shadow of the Beast. Seriously, that game was waaaaaaay more screwed up than people remember it to be.

So, this is the full game? On the Arcade? I guess the size limit continues to become even more irrelevant.

Recieved a notification about this in an email. It's the full thing with things added to it on XBLA. Or rather, from the email:

The critically acclaimed first-person melee action adventure game honored for its unique visual style is headed to Xbox LIVE Arcade in the vastly enhanced and much improved Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition.

New modes, new features, and added content, in addition to a series of improvements based on fan feedback, combine to make the [b]definitive version[b] of the game.

I also dearly hope these updates will be patched into the PC version as well since they mention quite a few of the updates are originated as commentary & criticisms from PC players. A big gameplay one I can think of is making the lock on system a bit better like having a dedicated 'disengage' button.

They're not obliged to give these updates to us PC players but it would be seriously appreciated right up there with CDProjeckt's EE edition of the Witcher.

I only heard good things about this game, gotta check it out in the XBLA.

@Springsteen

For mentioning Fallout, MadMax and Dune in the same sentence, you win one of the internets.

My computer would never let me demo this on Steam, so I'm glad to hear this is coming to a platform where I can actually play it on.

I've wanted to play this since first seeing it here on Dtoid.

Thank God for XBLA, my PC would never be able to handle it.

Much excite!

Oh and the game already had achievements on Steam. If you care about them because of gamerscore... well... just die.
