ZeniMax is hiring MMO talent, guessing Fallout photo

ZeniMax Media is looking for MMO people now, which obviously points to an MMO coming from them, probably from their company Bethesda. So, would that be Fallout? Maybe?

The folks at GamesIndustry say that they've already roped in Steve Escalante and former Blizzard talent Rich Barnham for this unannounced game, and now they're looking for more. And they say the rumors are pointing to the Fallout MMO action, too. What else could it be? Elder Scrolls?

Check out the job listings at the ZeniMax Online Studios webpage. The listings aren't giving any hints away, though.

Nice way of connecting the dots.

Since theres already a Fallout MMO in development, it could be them taking over development of said title or more likely an Elder scrolls MMO.

I hope you're not a gambler because it isn't Fallout. Interplay currently has the rights to a Fallout MMO and they're actually developing it with a number of original Fallout devs. While Bethesda owns the rights to the Fallout franchise and has a clause in their contract where they can cancel Interplay's license if it doesn't meet certain milestones/quality expectations, there is no chance that they're actively developing their own Fallout MMO at the same time.

It has to be Elder Scrolls.

Getting Steve Escalante is huge. He is the man behind the curtain when it comes to gaming. I wish he was my dad so I could show him off to the other kids.

If done right, this could be amazing. It would need multiple servers and a map the size of the Louisiana Purchase, but this could work.

Last I heard, what remains of Interplay still owns the MMO rights to Fallout.

I think the concept art on the homepage (use the last link in the article) may be a hint. It reminds me of Borderlands, which leads me to believe that it's a sci-fi MMO that focuses on a wasteland similar to Fallout 3. This could be an original IP, and since it's coming from Bethesda (or their parent company at least), I'm thinking it's going to be a first-person action-RPG rather than a more traditional MMO.

I would die if they made an Elder Scrolls MMO
Because of the fact that I would first buy a new computer to run it, then spend the rest of my life in front of it.

I kind of agree with Syn, though not as zealously. I really enjoy the Elder Scroll series for what it is, and I feel like making it into an MMO would shit all over that. The last thing I want when hacking some trolls in Tamriel is some 8 year old asking me to trade his rusty gauntlets for my glass longsword.

MMOs suck ass, they're all the fucking same and there is absolutely no chance of this one breaking the mold so why fucking bother?

As everyone else and the grandmothers have said;

Interplay still owns the rights to a Fallout MMO so it can't be that

I hope they're remaking the Van Buren game and sticking with the classic Fallout looks and gameplay.

Sounds good to me I like Bethesda and I like MMO's so I'll put this on my cautiously optimistic watch list right under SWTOR.

Elder Scrolls MMO would be nice. Hell, Elder Scrolls IV practically played like an MMO as it was, so...

Elder Scrolls MMO has been in talks for years now. Doubtful it'll be Fallout since Fantasy MMOs seem to be more acceptable to the masses and are easier to design for. Fallout MMO wouldn't really work anyway without neutering much of the ranged weapons or removing them entirely.

@Eliza Gauger:

Interplay kept the rights to the Fallout MMO and Bethesda got everything else, but Interplay keeping those rights was contingent on them getting the development up and running by a certain time...

So whether there has been some Back Channel communication between ZeniMax and Interplay regarding the state of Interplay's MMO...you never know, ZM could be just gathering a team together on the sly incase Interplay fails..

I don't want a Fallout MMO though, I'd like to keep my life and not become addicted to it...because I know I would -.-

I would much rather see a Fallout MMO than an Elderscrolls MMO. I've always considered the Elderscrolls to be the anti-MMO, and I wouldn't really care to see the TES world dragged into MMO gameplay.

Plus, I think we have had more than enough swords and sorcery MMOs to date.

I don't know exactly how a Fallout MMO would work, but at least it wouldn't feel like WoW in a new box (cough, conan, warhammer, and a dozen other lesser lights).

Indeed, not only do we not need another MMO, the Zenimax/Bethsoft people have such a lock on creating single player experience games (IMO, at least) that they should really stick to the real-time FPS/RPG/Sandbox genre they have come to define.

Let me see if I understood corectly, Zenimax Online Studio, a game development studio made for the purpose of creating MMO games is hiring people to work on MMOs, therefore you deduced that it may in fact be working on a MMO that is actually the Fallout MMO Interplay owns, or even, dare I say it, the Elder Scrolls MMO they've been trying to hide for two years? Awsome deductive skills.

Next thing you'll be telling us that Electronic Arts is working on a new FIFA game, braking story.

If I'm not mistaken, Interplay owns the rights for a Fallout MMO. I remember reading this (or hearing it in an interview) when Fallout 3 was released.
