Zenimax acquiring trademarks for 'Prey' left and right photo

Those curious as to what's the status of the sequel to Human Head Studios' 2006 first-person shooter Prey may have to look no further than Zenimax Media.

As of last Tuesday, the owner of Bethesda Softworks (and more recently id Software) has been getting its trademark hands sticky on with Prey. Prey 2 was announced in early 2008, among one of the many projects of Radar Group, along with now missing-in-action titles like Earth No More and Incarnate. Ownership of the IP appears to have been shifted from Radar to Zenimax, which seems to indicate there's something afoot.

"This time abandoned and frame for the disappearance of his family and girlfriend, Tommy escapes an Earth that no longer wants him for a future that cannot survive without him," read Radar's description of the sequel.

Prey 2 is said to be in development for the Xbox 360 and PC in cooperation with Human Head Studios, bringing back to the portal and gravity mechanics introduced in the original.

Prey 1 was an okay game. Definitely not the product of all the time spent on it, but it was alright.

Ah yea, good times. The portal creation was awesome. And the mod to make portals was great, a shame that you take fall damage though. The gravity defying paths you could walk on were prety cool to, love walking up walls and the ceilings. The spirit world with the spirit bow was kinda gay though.

I really liked Prey and was wondering when they were going to do a sequel. But how they hell does Tommy get blamed for the disappearance of his family and girlfriend? Like...Did nobody else notice the giant spacecraft that sucked up the whole town?

Prey 2 should be a lot better than the first. Please less pew pew pew guns though. When will they figure out what company will be working on it??

@Holiday - They probably did NOT notice it. And it was just the bar that got sucked up.

Who's going to believe Aliens turned/killed my family

@Furyfire:
If I remeber right in the game you could ear radio reports about the invasion, so...there.
Also, bring on Prey 2.

I only got as far as that part in the beginning where your grandfather gets stabbed/crushed to death by that machine thing he was strapped to. Figured the rest of the game was shit compared to that moment.

3 things will make me love the sequel over the original.

1: make the death mini-game better so you still have some consequences for "death".

2: the ability to make and place your own portals ala a portal gun or something.

3: the ability to temporarilly make any suface/segment of a surface(walls and ceilings) in to one of those gravitational surfaces that you can walk on(imagine the puzzles and firefights you could have with this ability).

If not, then I'll think it's just as mediocre as the original.

Prey was awesome... still plays and looks extremely good on my PC. I hated the no-dying mechanic though, as others have mentioned... almost made me feel like why bother?

Need more puzzles and platforming on Prey 2!
The monsters are also awesome in the first game.

I still prefer The Darkness over Prey 1 though.I'll be looking forward to this game.
