Princess Zelda -- always getting herself into trouble, be it getting kidnapped by Ganon or getting kidnapped by someone who isn't Ganon who then later turns out to be Ganon. But no longer will she remain useless to Link, who has fought hard for some 23 years to keep her free from harm.

Nintendo has announced that Zelda will be joining Link in The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks this December. While Zelda will still technically be kidnapped, her spirit will fight alongside Link to take control of big enemies called Phantoms, solve puzzles, and discover secrets.

Zelda will also apparently ride alongside Link on his phantom train, "offering wisdom" and helping move along the game's story line. So it won't be stuff like "You always leave the toilet seat up" or "Who's this Cammie chick who keeps talking about you?".

Spirit Tracks is scheduled for a December 7 release.

I will be very disappointed if they never use the phrase 'Well EXCUUUUUSE me, Princess!'.

Wait... did Zelda just die and her ghost helps you? Whatever happened, it seems pretty cool.

She helps you out in Ocarina of Time, and that's good enough for me since this game will be shit.

This game is just what I need.

Also GANNON.

Looks like in the end there she takes a shine to the idea since she can fly around now. Hope she doesn't start pestering you.

"So this is why you take so long to rescue me all the time! You harass chickens and break into people's belongings."

But she still isn't PHYSICALLY useful.

You know in the S-ing his D sense of the word.

though this has the same art style as wind waker, its not connected to Wind waker story-wise.

anyway, I think this is good move for a series that is long past stale.

All this help that Zelda's going to give sounds great, but honestly I'd be happy if all she ever did was buzz around my head screaming "LOOK!", and "OVER HERE!".

I'm still hoping that one day we'll be able to play as a badass, sword swinging version of Zelda. Make it happen, Nintendo!

Well, I don't really care if we get to play as Zelda, I'd just like to see something like this Zelda, where you got to choose the gender of your character. That would be interesting.

I mean, with all the "Heroes of Light", shouldn't at least one of them be female?

This could really make the story refreshing, even if it keeps the "Damsel in distress" thing. Also, loving that music.
@Tron:
Actually, according to IGN, Spirit Tracks takes place 100 years after Phourglass, so it is kinda based on The Wind Waker storyline.

Ok, NOW I am interested. Still got my fear that it will be pathetically easy as Phantom Hourglass. I mean, it was fun, but it felt to up in my sleeve. Or is it that I am too skilled now?

Wow, I am actually excited about this game now. Zelda finally has a decent role compared to her pathetic representation in Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass. And we see some antagonist-looking thing! Yay!

Even when she's in control of a giant badass statue that most likely isn't linked to her physical body she's still scared of a little rat.

Ah hell, I'd rather have her as her testy alter-ego Tetra if she's going to be the sidekick du jour, but she's a step up from the usual forgettable fairies for sure.

Zelda's been useful. Light arrows, mostly. Also, there was that one CD-i game we've all sworn not to talk about.

Zelda was useful in OOT as Sheik y'know...

@Tron
@Zepwich

Uhm, what The-Excel is reffering to is Zelda being useful at the finale of wind waker.

Anyway, this trailer looks awesome! Hopefully it will shut up those people who claim that "THE ZELDA SERIES HAS BEEN RUINED FOREVAR!!!!111", because it has trains in it...

Oh yeah that thing looks like the rope snake from Mother 3!

Anyway, Zelda this time is sort of an item, at least i hope she gets dialog or something, but you have to rescue her body or something... mmm that's kind of weird.

The music is awesome though, i didnt felt interested in the game, but i might try it now just to see whats with Zelda. The train is not very appealing.

Hahaha it would be great the WELL EXCUSE MEEEE PRINCESS!
