Looks like the next entry in the Legend of Zelda series is almost done, with Nintendo claiming that the "finishing touches" are being put on Skyward Sword.
The news comes from a recent investment meeting, where the publisher revealed that Skyward Sword was in its final production phase, getting that last spit n' polish before completion. Looks like we're on track for a 2011 release, which is excellent.
The last we heard about the game, it was "over half done" which didn't sound like they were close to being done. As someone who is very much looking forward to Skyward Sword, this is great to hear. It's been too long since last I kicked Ganondorf's arse.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Links pants are almost skin color it looks like he's flashing us and he has no genitalia
Correct
@Cryotek
Or....how about GC controller option?
Skyward Sword looks great, and they even have meaningful waggle with motion plus. I'm stoked.
And heck no GC controller support. This would totally screw combat difficulty balancing. As much as I sometimes miss my good old button-only configuration, I must admit I have become a believer in motion sensing after playing Red Steel 2. Waggle can be averted by simply making your attacks inneffective, much like a man desperately swinging a sword would be.
It can be tiresome, yeah, but Zelda has a pretty nice balance beetween combat and puzzle solving. Besides, there's a huge variety of items to be using in order to dispose of enemies anyway.
Well, this and to re-play Metroid other M, Sin and punishment and Red Steel II.....
Nintendo, release this now and keep Pikmin 3 back for the holidays. That would be amazing!
I might have to play through Twilight Princess again though.
@Davoidbot
That'd be sweet, but I'm pretty sure Link can run now going off some of the video clips from E3, so I wouldn't bet on it.
I think that would make it more likely. Now it can be a thing like the gauntlets, where it enhances an ability where the controls for it are already in place.
Considering this is a prequel to Ocarina of Time, and in that game Ganondorf had only been around for about 30-50 years residing in the desert, I think we can safely assume that Skyward Sword won't feature him
You can never really be sure when it comes to the Zelda storyline. Nintendo loves to ignore the lore and fuck with the kids who write timelines. If what I've read is true, link is a time traveling multi-dimensional shape shifting elf human hybrid.
I hope we have someone different, but I wouldn't bet all your rupees on it yet.
I guess what I'm trying to say is SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Oh, too late. Sooooooooo excited! AAAAAAAAAAH! :D
All I know is they're going even further back. The Anrgy Video Game Nerd isn't going to like that.
