Thank Germany for naughty alpha testers and advances in digital photography. It appears that somebody leaked a handful of never-before seen screenshots of Halo 3 to Evo-X.de, which apparently crashed from the overwhelming hysteria this caused worldwide. Luckily mirrors of the images quickly sprung up so we're able to bring you what all the fuss was about. Please feel free to look at these images carefully for the entire weekend and not leave the house, shower, or go visit your dad who's been bitching at you to come hook up his Wii to the internet already. Not that I'm projecting.

As far as the screenshots... yep, these are Halo, all right. I'm as excited about the game as the next guy, but screenshots just never do much for me. Especially when they're taken with a camera off screen.

Hey Rainbowblack, Bungie has never slapped together prettied-up versions of anything, with every new release we've seen better graphics, more advanced engines and better usage of them. I've never played a map that doesn't feel completly original and fun in it's own way, with secrets and easter eggs every where! but it is the a sequal, it does take place around futuristic buildings and mountainous plains and alot of other places, that's what makes it great. Don't pass judgment before you own you own copy of the game.
Oh and it never snows/rains because Halo is a constantly moving land mass, no percipitaion clouds in space.

And yes, in most ways it is sort of a remake, with new features. That's what sequels are. Bungie found a winning formula, and they're continuing to use it. It's not laziness or greed, it's business.

On the one hand, I can see how the "more of the same" thing can get tiring after awhile, but for certain games, when I finish them, all I want from a sequel is to play more of it. I think too many developers (and possibly even Bungie) feel like they have to bring in something totally new and different or else they'll come under tons of scrutiny (which they would). If Bungie had made Halo 2 just the continuation of the story of Halo 1, with no changes at all, I would have been completely content with it.
Am I the only person that notices that there's something blocked out in EVERY photo?

I played through Halo on the PC (yes, I even forced through the endless, unbelievably repetitive fights near the end) and thought it was one of the worst FPSes I've played since Rise of the Triad. The only reason I could see anyone liked it was that console gamers had never played a good FPS so didn't know what to compare it with. Either that, or the XBox version flashed subliminal porn.
I would probably love Halo 3 so much more if they could implement a weather system into some of the outdoor levels. As in, making it so the weather is random, time of day is random, and that you can choose that in the game options as well. Options for weather could include Clear, Cloudy, Rain, Snow, Fog, etc. Time of day could be Dawn/Dusk, Day, and Night. It'd also be pretty sw33t if the weather affected the gameplay. Traction on the vehicles would change, visibility would change, etc. What do you guys think?

What the fuck is so great about the halo franchise? It has got to be the most mediocre fps i have ever played. I played through halo one and thought it was ok... not as good as some of the fps games on the pc but ok. Then I got halo two and couldn't even finish it cause it was so repetitive. It should've been called halo 1.5. I've played halo and i thought it sucked. Maybe you halo fanboys should play a real fps on a pc and say the same shit. I'm not saying halo is a bad game but it certainly doesn't deserve al the hype.

I hate how people say, "If you like Halo, you probably have never played a real FPS on PC." Shut up. Do you honestly think that we haven't played FPS games on PC? Is it really completely impossible that we find some things about Halo to be really excellent? It boasts expansive areas with very little in them and even less to do. It's slow paced and very weapon centric (IE the person with the biggest gun will usually end up the winner). It's just an FPS people, it doesn't even try to bring anything new to the genre. As an action game it has nothing on Unreal etc. and it involves next to no strategy.
I mean, compare it to Duke Nukem 3D. Look how fun and innovative that was/is compared to Halo and it was out over a decade beforehand. Halo chooses slick production and shiny graphics over fun, innovation and varied gameplay - basically everything that makes a game great.

Variety in MP maps are fine, but as for the game itself, its still grassy plains and futuristic building. and i swear if Bungie still thinks im going to be content with that they have another thing coming
sure new game engine are nice and so are new graphics. but that does not make halo a different game in the end. all im asking for is something a lil different. cause its simply a HD version of the first two games. the sony-fed halo haters are going to have a field day with this. I know bungie feels they need to ramp things up for the big finale. But geez throw us a bone. don't lead me to believe this is just a regurgitated version of the first two games, because from screenshots. all i see is fantastic remake of halo. and thats not what we want.

I didnt think it was hard to make the transition from any dual analog control shooter to playing Halo....in fact, the controls made it really easy to make that transition, since they were so responsive.
Now...I'm not claiming to be able to beat anyone who is actually good at Halo... my friends just really sucked

To alot of people complaining about the graphics and polish....its the ALPHA build most of the graphics and polish comes in the last 20% of the game.
Also I'm still not too excited at this point. I'm sure it will kick in this summer though....what I'm really looking forward too right now is MASS EFFECT!

I agree with everything you said and don't quite get how Halo is so awesome. Halo 2 was ever so similar to Halo 1 with nothing added to gameplay, OMG new levels and 2 guns @ once.
I have Halo 2 and only play multiplayer, at buddies houses once in a while I played single player a bit but not even 25% through. Halo one delivered what Halo 2 did and I had enough single player with Halo 1.
I think they need to add some super sweet stuff to make this game worth while as new maps, shiny graphics, and a quad wont cut it for a demanding sequal.

I've beaten it on legendary and id never play it again, not cause I beat it but cause it isn't a super fabulous great game. The levels were pretty bare (more so the inside levels) and I felt they were just lazy cause you went thru a level and then the next level was you going thru the previous level but this time BACKWARDS...oooo, ahhh!

Can't wait for H3! It would be so radical if they put something like flametag or virus like from TimeSplitters. Flametag rapes! Britini if the pistol made a come back....holy god dang! It's called ALPHA!! MORONS! Ofcourse it looks like shit. I swear half the people commenting this thing are half retarded. Also.. people saying that it sucks.. and only talk about playing campaign. NOBODY plays the game for campaign. People play it because its a good multiplayer game to play on live. It was one of the first good games to play on live and on lan. THAT'S why it's so popular... There is a lot of things wrong with it tho... I personally hate the game sometimes and yes it is pretty stupid... but people play it because of the online play and because it's fun playing with a bunch of people like on lan. Any other game.. (well... besides the newest games for xbl) after you finish it... it's pointless almost. Halo sticks around and people keep playing it because you can play on live. Live does suck sometimes tho... I prefer lan.

dual-weilding is gone because showering people with high volumes of low damage firepower doesn't feel rewarding at all. Yay, bullet hoses.
The Arb. is gone, because his levels were tedious, and his storyline was total garbage. Sacrifice continuity, and just drop him.
Brutes are completely different, didn't they even admit during the new brute documtentary that their design as a tactical adversary was regrettable at best. Plus they look like big hairy turds. Because I'd rather not spend time jumping over next-gen raging terds like a matador on the moon.
Remove the lock-on system from rockets, honestly if you can't aim well enough to hit things with the splash damage, then play something else, why not include suicide booths and save yourself the trouble designing both lock-on rockets and vehicles. Plus wouldn't the addition of a guidance system make it a missile launcher instead of a rocket launcher.
Not going to mention the horrible last stage and ending. Oops.
But probably the easiest fix. Try to remember that unlimited sticky grenades is a luxury that's easy to incorporate, you control match making so it's not like they will pop up and ruin your ranked gameplay. Let people be free to strech the rules on their own terms with a long list of extra multiplayer options, that won't dilute halo multiplayer, it will extend the playability.

A 3rd installment of the most overrated FPS's of all time. Second was Golden Eye. Seriously, I never heard of a single PC gamer like Halo enough to live the hype. Sure it's an ok game...but I guess some never played quake 3 that came out 4 years before lol. Heck, Doom 1 is a much better game overall then halo 1.
