Don't you just love it when developers and publishers hold off on talking about their game until right before production comes to a close? It makes for a much more focused PR campaign, and the whole desperately-waiting-in-agony thing is less of an annoyance.
Metal Slug XX is coming out soon. Like, real soon. February 23, folks. Since it's more or less what DS players experienced in Metal Slug 7 with a few new additions, I can see why things happened this way. Some may see this as a negative, but personally, I don't own a DS anymore, so it's win-win.
I also cannot wait to see my PSP screen filled to the brink with Metal Slug XX's gorgeous sprites. I was blown away by the art of the original game, and more than a decade later, the series continues to impress me in awkward and often sensual ways.
Make sure to watch this new trailer for a quick recap of the game's bulletpoints. It's got lots of them. Also, bullets -- it's got lots of them too.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

BTW can anyone explain 'ad hoc' multiplayer to someone unschooled in the arts of PSP / mobile gaming? When i see 'ad hoc' multiplayer i see 'for purpose' multiplayer.
Ad Hoc indeed does mean "for this purpose" in this case the purpose would be for playing together. You play within a reasonable distance of each other and you can play together.
One of my biggest complaints about Metal Slug 7 is that most of the time the sprites are shrunken down (with a Mode 7-looking scaling effect) to fit all the action on the screen, turning what should be a very beautiful game into a mess of not-so-pretty. The PSP version appears to have fixed this, but it's not enough to get me to buy the game again.
@JustLikeBuck: If it's anything like the DS version, the 70 missions translates to 70 "objectives" in the combat school, where you play through one of the main game's stages with a certain objective, like "Break all the boxes" or "Find all the POWs".
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Does that translate into 70 different levels, or a set amount of levels with just a different set of enemies?
Ah not too bad then... probably a PSN purchase when it comes to a respectable price :)
