Your Casio has a Famicom slot? Pardon me? photo

As many of you already know, a healthy portion of the Destructoid clan headed to New York late last year for Blipfest, a celebration of music created with the involvement of various retro consoles. The culture is especially into creating mad and wonderful hybrids of console and music, which explains a lot of what you see here. Chiptune artist 6955 created this Casio keyboard with a Famicom cartridge slot, which is not only fully functional, but may result in the creator selling a kit to make your own in the future.

If you're wondering what all this Blipfest business is about (or you want to investigate the cool music with the Famicom sounds,) shoot over to the main site and read up. It's proper good stuff, yo. Then you can attend it later this year and party with the Robot & Co.

That keyboard has MIDI support right? I just wonder if you could output it to a PC and save it? That'd really be a boon for chiptune composers, though I certainly wouldn't know what to do with it, as I'm not musically inclined... but that's still pretty badass.

NES music is the best kind of chiptune music there is and that this hasn't been invented until now is a travesty.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
