You know what I'm excited for? Vanquish. At first glance, you could mistake it for a generic third-person shooter, with its Gears-like cover system and tech-sexy space marine character. Then you remember that Platinum Games is making it and, if you're smart, you leave your doubts at the door.
I played it at E3 and was very pleased with it. It's fun, it's fast, and it's totally mental. Like Gears of War with an adrenaline shot. Just check out the latest gameplay video. If that doesn't look fun, you're one jaded old sod.

I like that there's mechs, squadstuff, cool visual candy, and the crazy big mobility. You don't have to hang out all pinnned down, it seems.
Include flying and wtf-thousand-needle lasers like Zone of the Enders and its defintiely a day one for me.

Who cares if it seems similar to Gears of War? Does that mean it can't be fun? It's not as if the market is overcrowded with 3rd-person shooters.

However, by just watching this preview i can see the game getting high scores from Japanese reviewers while most Western gamers just won't get into it. I can see the Metacritic score: 72
I'm hoping the rest of the game is as awesome. The shooting looks a little...not hefty, to me. Like, the enemies don't respond to being shot, and the bullets look like shmup bullets. Which is cool, but would probably feel weird. And if the gun's not fun to fire, then what's the point?
