Couple questions: One, I have never played a Rayman game before, so is this a good place to start? Or should I try another first? Also, what are the features of the 3DS and Wii versions?
So one of the few quality, fun-looking and most importantly Non-DRM games Ubisoft puts out and you hate it just because of Ubi's other crap games? One of the few games that if sold well could encourage them to make more fun games and not crap?
Whatever. You seem no better than Sofik or JimmyX to me now. No wonder no one hardly pays attention to your blogs or comments. You'd be better served on GoNintendo.
Origins is as good of a place as any to start. Otherwise, check out the first Rayman. There are some fun throwbacks to it.
@JQM78
So, I would imagine that you didn't get Donkey Kong Country Return, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, or either of the Kirby Wii games? Never mind the genre, type of gameplay, length, replayability or overall quality, if a 2D game isn't sold at no more than $15, screw it? Am I reading you right? Because that sounds like a pretty narrow way of thinking, if you ask me.
@Karutomaru
Dude, Karu, take a seat over here.
Look, I know you seem to have an issue with some of Ubisoft's practices. Personally, I've seen them as being a little more clueless rather than evil, but that's just me. But does Rayman Origins actually have anything that you would have a problem with? Or are you just doing this out of spite? Wouldn't it make more sense to support Origins if that's the case and encourage them eliminating those practices?
Just my two cents.
There is such a thing a paying extra for a quality game which the higher pricepoint helps fund this. It isnt as if niche boxed titles will stay at full price for long so they can pay the same as a 1200msp game.
Folk moaning about this crap is probably why MS is pulling the plug on region free JPN boxed titles like shmups (under defeat hd)
In short: he's a nintendo fanboy
Just try to picture Catherine getting released in november. No way it would worked like it did.
The game is really impressive graphically, but I'm just not all that into the art style. It's different, I respect it, but I'm not that into it. I'm going to pass on this, but I could see parents buying up some of this for the holidays, and rightfully so. Looks like a charming, well made game.
Oh no! The parody account was NOT needed! What is it with parody accounts on this site nowadays?
I think you're underestimating the brand power Nintendo has, they shouldn't really be used to judge how well a game may do. Saying a game will sell purely because it is good has been proven to be not necessarily true plenty of times. Despite how amazing this game will be, I'd be surprised if it sells a lot

Still leaning towards grabbing the Wii version, partially just because it's the only console I've got 4 controllers for, but regardless, this looks like a quality platformer with some drop-dead gorgeous animation.
For me its really "I really would like to try Saints Row the Third and Assassins Creed Revelations, but it comes out the same day as Rayman Origins. Sadly, I will have to pass until a later date"
:P
...what's that, no Rayman for PC? Well, that's a shame, but hey, maybe I'll pick it up from the bargain bin in a few months.
Depends on what would you like to do. If you want to get to know the story behind it then better get dosbox or an emulator and go try the first Rayman (Incredibly hard though), then The Great Escape and Hoodlum Havoc. In origins there are many references for the first game. If you just want to have fun then just try out R2, it's easier to beat than R1, which is a pain in the ass some times by it's difficulty, never managed to beat it, and a bit more creative storywise than Hoodlum Havoc. Also completely forget the Rabbids. Any games of them.
