You might want to check Circuit City again photo

We told you early last month that electronics retailer Circuit City was closing over 150 stores. That's big news, as they held up about 10% of the US games market. Damn this economy!

We saw their "everything must go" sales last month, but were not impressed. They discounted their games a measly 5%. What bullsh*t! You could do better than that discount just about anywhere, especially on the internet. That doesn't even take care of tax!

It's worth checking back now, provided you have a closing store near you. I checked in on a local store yesterday, and the prices were much lower than before. Games were 30% off, and they actually had a solid selection. New games were still on the racks, too. Both of Square Enix's recent RPG duds may not be worth $60, but how about $40-something? Fallout 3 was there, as were the limited editions of the new GTA and Saints Row 2. All cheap.

Game accessories were also 30% off. I didn't really want a PSEye, but got one for a good price. They had no controllers left, but they did have just about everything else. Strategy guides and the like were a whopping 70% off. Found several nice ones for only dollars.

If you're a PC gamer, titles were 40% off and the selection was very solid. PC software was 50% off, too. And if you're still gaming on stereo television speakers, you're missing out. Circuit City had some insane discounts on receivers and speakers.

Anyone want to ship me something sweet for my PS3?

Wish something in Canada was going out of business so I could get 30%...double edged sword I guess.

This makes me wish even more that my local Circuit City was closing.

Just be sure they haven't jacked up the price before applying the discount. There have been a lot of complaints about Circuit City's closeouts so keep your wits about you and remember that middle-aged women are stronger than they look. O_O

It's true. I went in to my local one and got a 120Gb hard drive for Xbox 360 for $99 (I think they're normally $150), and I ordered a refurbished X360 Arcade starter pack (wireless controller, 20Gb hard drive) for $40 (the wireless controller alone sells for $50) and got free shipping.

Bet. I'm on my way to the one at Golden Ring in Baltimore. If you see me playing Fallout 3, you know what's up.

Yeah, closest one to me is about 30 miles away. If it were closer, I might go look, but it's not so...

I dunno about you, but the CC near me has been nearly sold out completely since the sale was at about 20% off. All that's left is shitty shovelware PS2 and DS games.

I might check back because I THINK they might have had Star Ocean 1 in, but maybe not. Eh.

all I know is that I worked for CompUSA last year when it went out of business, and between the "borrowing" of games and the discounts, it was a good gaming year. Lame for the people working at those stores, but keep a keen eye out. You'll find some awesome deals.

Not bad! Picked up Pheonix wright 2 for like 8 bucks. Also Persona 3 FES, Wild Arms 3 (for my Dad) and Lost Odyssey all on the relatively cheap.

They still had a few Far Cry 2, and whole bunch of Guitar Hero for every system (I almost picke dup 2 on 360 for $35) and a few Halo 3 Collector Editions and Limited Editions.

Also Phantom Hourglass. Plenty of Phantom Hourglass
