Say it ain't so, Lady Palutena! When asked point blank by IGN regarding a potential Kid Icarus: Uprising sequel, project head and famed Smash Brothers creator Masahiro Sakurai had this to say: “because we pushed a lot into the game in order to let people have this short yet deep experience, but the novelty of that would likely grow thin in the next game. For now, my thought is that perhaps we'll see someone else besides me make another Kid Icarus in another 25 years”.

Am I crazy in thinking that Nintendo should nurture more original properties in their lineup? It's nice that the 2-3 Mario games per year are actually good, but I would personally enjoy mixing things up every so often. As it stands, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, and Star Fox games are very few and far between: now we can add poor Pit to the top of the pile. It's a shame, because Kid Icarus: Uprising is one of my favorite games of the year, and one of my most treasured Nintendo games of all time.

I felt like it perfectly encapsulated that "feel good emotion" you get as a child when watching Beast Wars or Zoids on a lazy dog-dangling Saturday morning. It was charming, succinct, yet deep, and Nintendo actually did online multiplayer right for once. I for one hope that we get another Kid Icarus game before 25 years time -- preferably a console title in the same vein as Uprising.

No Sequel for Kid Icarus Uprising [IGN]

Kid Icarus as a 3D Classic for 3DS, coming west

Australia's Classification Board rated the NES game Kid Icarus as a 3D Classic title for 3DS. So it's coming to the west for sure. Need more proof? Nintendo Europe confirms the release in a pretty great way. They'll give it o...more

Kid Icarus coming to 3D Classics

Kid Icarus is the next game confirmed to hit the 3DS' "3D Classics" range, and at least it's a classic this time. A classic that people have tricked themselves into thinking is good despite it being a bit rubbish, but a class...more

La-Mulana 2 aims to be more 'intuitive,' still hard as heck

La-Mulana was regarded by some as the hardest game ever. This isn't going to change, though Nigoro's Takami Naramura wants it to be slightly more intuitive so perhaps all those deaths don't lead to warranted frustration and ...more

Open world platformer/space shooter A.N.N.E is a retro buffet

Really, why even play clearly deficient retro games? I mean, where are the shmup segments in Metroid? Where are the open world segments in Contra? Where are the line segments in a bisected triangle? A.N.N.E. is one part platformer, one part shmup, one part RPG. And this year at PAX A.N.N.E. has all its systems in play. Maybe we'll all get to play it this year.more

Addiction allegory Spate's soundtrack is available now

Spate made a bit of a stir with its release last month, if not for its attempt to tackle themes more mature than shooting bullets at beefy dudes, then for its dated representation of absinthe as it exists and is understood to...more
