You'll never guess who won big at the XBLA Awards photo

Castle Crashers won in three catagories: Game of the Year, Best Original Game, and Best Co-op Mode. Bionic Commando Rearmed, on the other hand, won nothing. You fail me yet again, Starscream.

An astounding 185,000+ people went through the trouble of downloading an application from Xbox LIVE to vote for their favorite games for the second annual XBLA Awards. Impressive, to say the least.

I'm not embarrassed to admit it's nice to see a game like A Kingdom for Keflings take a victory, even if it is just the Best Family Game award. After a long day of obliterating Majinis in Resident Evil 5, it's the perfect title to bring you back into a more relaxed state of mind.

Check after the break for the full list of winners.

Game of the Year:

Castle Crashers

Best Versus Mode:

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

Best Single Player Game:

Best Remake:

Best Original Game:

Castle Crashers

Best Innovation:

Best Graphics:

Super Street Fight II Turbo HD Remix

Best Family Game:

A Kingdom for Keflings

Best Co-op Mode:

Castle Crashers

Sigh, no awards for BC:R, surprised Braid didn't win more. Terrible results.

Yep, it's a shame Braid didn't win more but I can perfectly see why.

Unbelivable, the shitty broken flash game wins big and BC:R is nowhere to be seen.

Terrible results.

*Have to say, grats to CC though, of course I love that game. :)

No BC:R? No Megaman 9?
Daaang, we need more categories.

I thought best graphics would go to Braid or Castle Crashers.

The best innovation category was bullshit. Band of Bugs had level sharing before N+ did, and "time travel" isn't really innovative; the concept of the game was more-so.

I love CC but I'm surprised that game was still supported after being so broken. Luckily I actually bought it after the fixes, so I had no problems.

Castle Crashers is a good game, but I was surprised that it won the award, you know considering the bugs that hasn't been fixed for a LONG time.

I still haven't picked up Castle Crashers because I don't understand how the Xbox ownage stystem works. Right now where I live I don't have access to my own home 360, so if I download any XBLA games on the one here, I don't know if i'll be able to take them back with me and re-download them. Can anyone help me solve this?

What the fuck? Best Single Player Game is PORTAL, and not fucking Braid?

I hate people.

Um - If you have a memory unit you can bring your account with you, download/buy them on the one that has internet access, and bring the game back with you to your other machine.

The problem is you need to re-authenticate it when you get back. It can only be active on one machine (which means you need internet access on the one you want to play it on). When you de-activate the other copy, it will revert to a demo. I think this is right, sorry if I've made any mistakes on how it works.

Cheers for that, it'd make sense if that's how it works to me anyway. When I tried bringing a copy of Braid to the Xbox I have where i'm living now (offline) I was able to download the full game from my gamertag after plugging the LAN cable in, but when I took it out the game was still a demo for some unknown reason to me.

Makes a lot of sense though, I just found it funny how I can't play a game that i've paid money for when I tried it on a different machine. (Naivitie really showing through now, as that's probably the way around not having one person download a game and give it to everyone they know >.<) Still, its not like the old days when you could chuck out a cartridge and take it round a friends house... gah I miss that..

I can easily sort this by buying a bigger cable that I can actually keep plugged in all the time. Thanks much!

I cared about Castle Crashers for 4 hours. It was after the second time I lost my character I decided I was done forever. I'm not a big fan of re-racking, moreso if it is not my fault.

SSF2THDR won best graphics? while the graphics for that game are certainly not anything to complain about there are, IMO, games that are much more worthy of that crown. I disagree with most of these winners, but whatcha gonna do...

BULL SHIT!!!

BC:R is EASILY the best remake of a game. How can SSF II even compare?

Castle Crashers is a great game, but it was broken for so long that I lost interest before it was fixed.

And let's not forget that BC:R was actually priced appropriately.

The solution? Redownload it on your other Xbox. Go into the game marketplace and find the full game link; it should have a checkmark next to it.

PSN handles it much better. I think it's at least 3(?) full game licenses on any PS3.

I think the awards are pretty good. Portal was definitely the best game in its category, but it feels a bit inappropriate since it was basically released the year before as part of The Orange Box. I would have rather seen Braid win for best graphics, the watercolor backgrounds were awesome. It is good to see Kingdom for Keflings win something, it was a fun diversion and something different, which is what XBLA should be all about.

@Otomiruninja

Have you been living under a rock? CC online was unplayable, and randomly some people's characters would be deleted.

If you got it after the patch that took months to come out; grats! Otherwise, it sucked.

@everybody that complained about CC bugs

It's well known that not everybody that got the game was affected, so it stands to reason that there is a large percentage of people that will have an almost unconditional love for the game. I know that one of my knights got deleted, but I just leveled him back up, because that was easily the most fun I've had in an XBLA game ever, so I wasn't bothered by getting back to level 60.

I concur that Megaman 9 needs some love, I think that Braid was the most overrated game of '08, and BC didn't appeal to me after a few minutes of hands on time.

Also, Puzzle Quest should have won something. Maybe next year a category for each genre?

Castle Crashers deserves every one of those awards. The online play was the only thing truly broken, and even then it didn't affect everyone. The only fault here is that they didn't fix it sooner.

Haha no. I bought it for myself after the game was patched. But I played it with my friend all the time, and I remember one day his 60 got deleted, so my other friends and I had to stop playing to wait for him, it sucked.
