You can vote to bring Taiko No Tatsujin to the US photo

For any person who wonders why I am a fan of the Taiko No Tatsujiin series, I ask you: gaze upon that picture above and tell what about it is not to like. In addition to flying drums, we have multicolored birds, jubilant cats, overjoyed drumsticks, an ecstatic mermaid, a boy holding a gun with a tiger coming out of it and a flying bell holding what appears to be a lightsaber made of fire. I mean, Jesus ... that's some good sh*t.

The last game in the series, Meccha! Taiko no Tatsujin DS 7-tsu no Shima no Daibouken, had a story mode that I would have loved to have been able to understand. According to C3, I might just get my wish. They posted an interview with the producer of the Taiko series, Ken Nakadate, who had some hopeful words for US fans of the series:

C3: Rhythm games have been extremely popular in the West, including the Bandai Namco-developed Donkey Kong series, as well as the extremely Japanese-themed Elite Beat Agents. Given this fact, will either DS Taiko no Tatsujin or the forthcoming Wii game be considered for a US or European release?

KN: We want the customers in Europe and US to enjoy the Japanese Taiko drum. The schedule for US or European releases is undecided but we would release them if we receive a lot of requests from US and European customers!

I don't have to tell you what to do, do I? As we speak I'm preparing to take some pictures of myself in my homemade drum costume to accompany the 27 page letter I wrote to Namco-Bandai. Important note, though -- you have to stress that while we want English dialogue, we do not want different songs. DO NOT WANT. Otherwise, we'll end up drumming our way through Britney Spears songs again, which was kind of like having sex with Christian Bale while he's wearing a mask with your grandmother's face on it.

I just voted "yes, with the Japaneses songs."

The poll has been up since yesterday with only six votes. Is it really that off the radar?

i wouldn't mind new songs just because i've already played through the japanese version. but it would suck to have to taiko along with a cover of britney's 'oops i did it again'. i have a hard time believing they would be able to license all those jp pop and tv theme songs for the us and europe.

worst taiko song ever? the ABCs from taiko 2 on the ds.

Ugh, it's like Japan threw up on a piece of paper, scanned it, and made a jpg.

I'll leave my vote out. :) I stopped buying music/rhythm games when I looked in my living room and noticed there were more plastic instruments than furniture.

But sex with Christian Bale would be so good, you wouldn't really mind the grandmother mask!

DO WANT! I have both of the Japanese ones, but I'd still love for them to come to America.

please don't. if you want it, just import it. I don't think i can stand another taiko drum master game...... with crappy covers of awful american songs. (honestly, the only song in the ps2 version that I could stand, which *wasn't* taken from another namco game.... was the Jimmy Neutron theme. thats EMBARASSING.)

so please, just.. let japan keep it. the version that the western audience gets will only suck.

All i gotta say is that if it does get imported i hope there would not be some jimmy neutron songs again, i felt so ripped buying the PS2 version. But i voted yes to getting it imported, although i have the game already, if you need help there is a walkthrough out there (that's how i beat it) its a pretty awesome game.
