You can take Snoop out of the ghetto, but... photo

Apparently paying double most families' yearly income for an hour of "performing" isn't enough to get a washed-up criminal / rapper to represent at a childrens charity event. I was going to write my version of what happened, but somehow ended up ranting about how rappers and professional athletes should swap their salaries with teachers and police officers, so here's the scoop direct from the New York Post:

If you want Snoop Dogg to play at an event, not only will you have to pay his $150,000 fee, you'll have to accommodate his unusual tastes and enormous entourage. Organizers of Tuesday night's Pussycat Dolls concert at Cipriani Wall Street to benefit UNICEF (United Nations Childrens Fund), which also featured the rapper, had to fly in more than 10 members of his posse, first-class. Then, at the last minute, Snoop almost didn't go on because, "he insisted on having an Xbox in his dressing room," an insider said. "We finally found someone who lent us their kids' Xbox, and had to put Snoop somewhere on the third floor because he was smoking so much dope." Snoop and his pals were having such a good time they were an hour late making it to the stage...

There you go. Countless innocent children are abused sexually, physically, and mentally everyday, but Calvin Broadus needs him some Xbox. Can some one get this man a fire to die in?

It's really sad that he would do this. The man shouldn't have charged them a dime to begin with. To hear that he was in the back with the "funny Indo" is just a bit too much to bear.

Charity work should be taken seriously.... People depend on you.

All this ruckus because of not having an Xbox. I mean a PS3 or Wii I can understand, but an Xbox.

This is why people that like rap shouldn't be gamers. Snoop and FatBologna are prime examples.

i don't see anything wrong with what he did....aside from smoking dope. his records are going to sell whether or not he does charity work. the only reason i did charity...was for the money..

Did they run out of imagination or was this overrated moron the only "artist" available?

@ozkr:

Well, you have to consider the term "imagination" in context to people who thought it was cool to have The Pussycat Dolls performing for charity. Hip-hop used to be amazing. Now only the underground stuff is good.

After we burn Snoop Dogg, can we get rid of the Pussycat Dolls too? I'm thinking something involving acid or razor wire.

man... $150,000 is a lot of good stuff for those kids. Maybe he was to high to know it was CHARITY. Ahh, the Pussycat Dolls. They're like the Spice Girls, but without the talent.

Yes you are all correct Snoop dog is the first and only star to ever charge a charitable organization to preform for them. You have blown this case wide open SCOOBY! Now go search for the WMDs in IRAQ AMERICA NEEDS YOU!

OR

This is a common practice and you just particularly happen to catch one snoop Dog doing it when many other celebrities do the exact same thing. HMMMMM.... I wonder? Nah that must be crazy talk Snoop Dog alone does this.

He wasn't implying that Only snoop does this. Its just in the process he showed little concern for the kids by not even wanting to go on just because he had no XBOX forcing the hosts to first class fly 10 of his "friends" just for laughs and smoke weed before the performance...............charging to perform is the least of our concerns here.

That is FUCKING HILARIOUS. Snoop has made some good music. I have nothing against smoking dope or being a criminal, so I can look at this and laugh.

Fuck yo charity nigga!

Oh yeah, isn't UNICEF an organization that rehabilitates child soldiers? Aren't most of them African (black)? You would think that Snoop would pay to do this, since it would be helping his... you know... people. But I still think its hilarious that he borrowed some kid's xbox and smoked dope with his homies and was an hour late.

[rant] I have no idea why people complain about how much athletes and "artist" get paid. Their line of work pays very well. As far as teachers getting paid more, get real. My aunt is a kindergarden teacher who complains about pay and she's making $26 /hr to do arts and crafts and baby sit kids. That's pretty good, I'd say. I've never met a person in real life who's had a teacher that actually could say that they deserved more than $10 /hr. My teachers used to show up late for class, never teach slow enough for a kid to understand, and we're really rude. No, they deserve less than what they get paid. I could care less how many years they wasted in college. [/rant]

Is this any different than Al Gore or one of the EnviroMENTALists refusing to do aid shows unless they are flown in on planes that run on butterfly's and sunshine?

Or refusing to go on until all of the light bulbs in their dressing room are replaced with Vegan firefly bulbs that give 50watts of light for 25 watts of power....Meh.

Yes, because one is a belief that helps society and the other is Snoop wanting to just get extravagant shit and be treated like royalty.
