Been using it on my Windows Phone for months (Although obviously nobody writes articles about that. Shame.)
Of course it's easier to use a 360 controller, but the app shows more detail about what you're watching and lets you browse the content while watching something else.
It's not just a controller.
I am also pretty certain the majority the hate hasn't arrived yet cause there is nothing people like complaining about more than optional features that don't affect them.
So convenient!
Still... I like the concept and I'm sure they'll continue to improve it.
I mean its really NOTHING like that but Im going to make the comparison anyway.
im sick and tired of product integration. just an excuse to make consumers think they need all this junk to "enjoy" their movies etc.
Worst of all, this stuff is mandatory. I remember that Killzone 2 or 3 gave the option of skipping them, but Sony told them to take the option out.
I was wondering how this slipped into the app store. Apple isn't generally keen on giving any concessions to competitors. But the murder pad does make a lot of sense, and would seem to fit right into their MO.
Or in other words today Microsoft learned the meaning of the word irony.
I don't understand how Microsoft continues to screw up at every step. Watching them try to control the living room is like watching the three stooges try and run a barbershop.
I don't know.. If it doesn't kick my dog then I don't think I can care too much. Dog kicking is a game changer.
I'm sure we're still years away, but I can see a future where while watching an NFL game on the big-screen, I'll be able to change camera angles on the fly with the tablet. As well as access instant-replays on demand and get real time player stats and such. True web-tv!
Change is good!
car radios, gps and cup holders? Cars should do one thing and one thing only, drive!
since when did gamers turn into crotchety 90 year old men.
I'm not against it so much as I think the people at Microsoft should be spending their time working on things that are actually worth it. Not this shit.
The only use I can see for this is watching Netflix, and does anyone actually use there Xbox as a Netflix machine?
FWIW, I've messed around with the iphone version and each time I find myself wondering what's the point? It just makes everything more cumbersome.
Do I really need to see the publishers, developers, and the game engine's brand name before I start the game?
Do I really need to press start to begin? I already 1) turned the box on 2) put/had the disc in 3) chose it from a menu 4) waited through the publisher credits. Splash pages are reviled online, but they survive in games for no good reason. Arcades and CRTs are dead, and the cinematics that roll when I leave a new game idle are pointless. And why start, X, A, or A+B? Any button usually works.
And speaking of new games, why is "Start a New Game" often the first option? A proper menu would read
* Continue Game A
* Continue Game B...
* New Game
And often there's another step from there, where I decide to start, rename or delete the saved game, like I'll ever do the latter two.
Ideally, I should be able to load the game from the system menu, given the sophistication of such menus.
