Rockstar must have heard you guys bitching: "Why was there so little gameplay footage in that Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars trailer you posted earlier?"
Well, here it is. It's small, but you can get a good idea of what's going on. The game uses the touch-screen in a few pretty neat ways, none of which seem to invasive, either. The car-jacking/hot-wiring instances don't have all of the time, for example, only on specific cars. Don't expect to be hot-wiring every car you try to get into.
There's more to the game ... a lot more. When I sat down, saw, and played about an hour of so of the game, I was impressed. Check back for details and impressions tomorrow.
Can't wait? You can find more info on the game at the official Web site, you impatient bastards.
Wow, that looks really good. Strangely it pays homage to the original like New Super Mario Bros. did with a 3D remaking on a 2D based world. It really does work well.
Nothing like rolling around town, hot wiring cars, escaping police, busting through billboards, and just letting those 95 grenades you're carrying around sit comfortably in the back seat...
Looks like they did a good job crafting the game to the DS's strengths. I like that it's sort of in between oldschool GTA and newschool GTA. Looks like there's a lot going on and the movement is fluid.
The hotwiring minigame is interesting, but it may get a little tiresome if it has to be done every time(though, now that I think about it, it should only have to be done for cars that are parked.. not hijacked ones.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I'm not a GTA fan at all, but even I'm interested in this one.
Looks good though, lets hope I can it before the daily mail gets me.
