Yet more No More Heroes

Yet more No More Heroes photo

The official site for No More Heroes is now up, causing collective aniticpation for Suda 51's latest slice of tripped-out, carnage-packed potential greatness to rise another excitable notch. While the majority of the content is yet to appear, there are a few small black and white, vintage-film style images from the trailer to check out on the Story page, with the promise of character and (presumably control) system information, as well as more pictures to come.

Not only that, but Famitsu has got six new screenshots up, showing off the Killer 7 creator's new vision through the medium of sword grapples, suplexes, and men being sliced in half. There are also a couple of shots depicting a scene on a beach, which show some surprisingly delicate refinement of Suda's gung-ho cel-shaded style.

Anyone not excited about this one yet? No? Good. As Niero so rightly said a couple of days ago, this game is punk. I can't remember the last time a game evoked such an unhinged level of balls-out anarcho-splendor, and given the sheer, eyeball-bleeding joy of both the teaser and the full trailer, I want this yesterday. Now.

Hit the gallery for the Famitsu shots.

[Many thanks, as ever, to Blindside Dork]

Oh, and it's really too bad I cannot read anything on the site. Here's hoping they release an english-language translation.

Now THIS is how you do ultra-violent videogames. With style and substance. You're not sneaking up on someone and twisting off thier nads with a pliers while thier back is turned, like a fucking pussy. Killer 7 was brilliant. This one looks to top it. Suda 51 should name all the enemies after Rockstar execs.

Not interested. I'll need to see more, first. As it is, it doesn't float my boat much at all. What exactly is the premise of the game? If it's just a cel-shaded guy with a sword running around, then... uh, yeah.

This game is going to be so awesome. Think about it... A sandbox style game... on Wii... with a freakin' 'light katana'! How cool is that?!

Sharpless, the premise is that you are a guy who buys a lightsaber on Ebay, and is then encouraged to become the greatest assasin of all time. And in some way, some Salior Moon type girls the main character likes will be involved, is only a little.

There is more to it, but from what I know, the game is not as story oriented as Killer 7 was. In fact, Suda 51 has said many times this game is sort of a reaction to Killer 7, meaning (maybe) that No More Heroese is to be everything Killer 7 isn't.

Either way, I'm very optimistic about this game and hope it turns out well. Suda is by no means a master game developer, but on sheer unconventionality alone, his games are worth checking out.

Well, okay. If the story is anything like you described, then I'm intrigued, at the very least. I'll make a note to keep an eye on this one, after all.

The main character kills the 10th greatest assassin ever and becomes the 10th ranked in his place. From there, his challenge to eliminate the remaining nine to become the world's greatest. It takes place in a world where assassination has become a viable business venture. It's pretty quirky in typical Suda fashion, though more easy to penetrate than Killer 7 was.

Fuck, I loved Killer 7.

I like how they use the tiger in the HUD to represent the stance(high, medium and low)

I hope it's not too devoid of a plot. I really liked Killer 7's... if only I didn't put it down for too long and forget where I was. Everytime I pick it up now i think "man this game looks cool," and then I shoot some people into a poof of particles, Dan Smith swears, and I have to turn it off because I don't remember what to do next.
But yeah, I want a story.
