One more reason to not play SWTOR. It's full of retarded chimps who have never played MMOs before and are too brain dead to read through and understand the concepts of subscriptions.
Jim, as much as I would LOVE to jump on the, "Let's bash EA" bandwagon, this IS a common practice. Netflix, HULU, Amazon Prime, Gamefly, Microsoft, they all hope you "forget" to cancel and will charge the heck out of you. Microsoft is more notorious, as they will continue to let you use Xbox Live and then back charge you for XBOX Live... It's ludicrous. Ludicrous... And it drives me batty

What kills me about people needing to be told this at all is that you've already paid $60 or more and you're held up on going the last leg of the race because you don't want to properly set up your account or -God forbid- write yourself a note to remember to cancel the account 28 or 29 days from now?

His reviews are definitely worth his presence here but his "reporting" ugh, least effective person here when it comes to it, he does get teh hits though but in the same cheap degrading ways that papers like The Sun do.....

Jim, you posted about it like it was big and preposterous news. It's not. Following up with EA to hear if it's "koshier" is something that, as a veteran gaming writer, you shouldn't need to do, because you're supposed to know the industry, and knowing the industry would tell you that yes, it's koshier, normal, and there are several reasons for it to be that way.

I dont remember having to use a credit card for MMOs I used to play, not when I had the first month free from buying the game.

Yeah every person bitching (HPV [Appropriate name], KenAkuma [Get an avatar], Shiryu ["I should work the job before pretending to understand it"], and a shitload of other people) seem to be missing the "Annoying? Questionable? Maybe. But that seems to be more a symptom of the genre, rather than any one publisher being a dick." bit.
I hope these guys get a job and regularly have to deal with the idiotic shit they spew all over the place.

Yup, I remember being 14 and going FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!! when WoW came out(day 1 purchase) and I couldnt set up my account on my own (what 14yearold has a credit card) even though I planned to pay w/ pre-paid time-cards.
This has been standard on subscription based mmos since as long as I can remember. Nothing new or controversial here.
most people forget to cancell MMO's like this but a couple of years ago you were given 14 days to play free with limits and after the time expired you could not play unless you subscribed.

What SWTOR is not thinking about is that WOW and EVE online are a couple of the largest gaming communitys online and they gave 14 days free last year to play the game with some limits and by giving free time to check out the game without worry they got more of a player base out of it. this attempt to make the most money out of the game is by far an attempt to reach for the limits of what this online gaming community can deal with...... NOT SMART FOR SWTOR.
