Yes, that is a Shadow of the Colossus grilled cheese sandwich photo

A couple of months back I posted an Art Attack Friday about Anna the Red (or kickintheheadcomic on Flickr), an artist who created some famous videogame characters out of tasty bento boxes. If you missed it, click here to check it out. They are absolutely incredible.

At the end of the article I made a joke where I said -- and I quote: “If anyone needs me, I will be in the kitchen recreating a scene from Shadow of the Colossus out of my grilled cheese sandwich.”

Well, Anna the Red (or Anna the Amazing as I am now calling her) decided to take that joke as a challenge and ACTUALLY MADE A SCENE FROM SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS OUT OF A FREAKIN’ GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH. Using seaweed, a slice of cheese, toast, and a very sharp exacto knife, Anna the Amazing created the above edible masterpiece featuring one of the most classic images from the even more classic PlayStation 2 game. (Check the gallery for her other creation from SotC and check her blog for a more detailed creation process.)

All I can say is: I think I am in love. You are an incredibly talented artist, Anna, and you passed my “challenge” with flying colors. Wow. And since you seem to take my jokes as personal trials, I leave you with this: Man, I can’t wait to get in the kitchen and start working on a taco that recreates the entire opera scene from Final Fantasy VI.

Good luck with that one.

[Thanks, Lee!]

That taco that you're going to make will probably be the best, most indescribable taco ever.

I thought it was mold it first, but this is really pretty cool.

Sandwich of the Colossus. She should make a Katamari themed rice crispi treat ball.

Processed cheese. People eat it voluntarily and I cannot begin to fathom the reasons behind such acts.

wexx- same! I thought it was mold to.

Anyways, that is the best grilled cheese sandwich ever, although... it's not exactly grilled, and there's no bacon on it. But, it still is fucking awesome and I'm going to check out Anna's bento box creations right now.

i don't see any grilling on that, nor a top slice of bread so i don't think it can be called a sandwich either.

so shadow of the colossus cheese bread.

@Druid,
I think he means that YELLOW slab of edible rubber. The seaweed, in comparison, looks tasty.

I don't think you can put bacon on a grilled cheese,and still call it a "grilled cheese". That sounds delectible though.

Also,provolone.

That's a slice of cheese on a piece of toast with a seaweed SoC cut out on it. I commend the art work but as one of the world's leading authorities on grilled cheese, I have no choice but to deny its status as a divine cheese sandwich cooked over radiant heat. Besides, real grilled cheeses use American cheese not Yellow.

@ZekeThePlumber:

Holy crap, "ZekeThePlumber", I don't remember what that's from, but just reading that name causes some sort of buried fear from my childhood to bubble forth. *shivers*

This is such a coincidence, the other day I was thinking to myself, "There probably isn't a way to increase the awesomness of either cheese or Shadow of the Colossus. Nope, can't be done."

Do people actually put seaweed on grilled cheese sandwiches? It's impressive, but doesn't make much sense to mee. It would have made more sense and look just as cool if the cutout was laid over a bowl of white rice or something.

Okayyyy... Let the pedantics begin. Let's see...

Questions:
1. Grilled
2. Cheese
3. Sandwich

Answers:
1. Nope. raw cheese, raw bread.. possibly grilled seaweed?
2. Maybe. There is cheese, but pattern made of .. seaweed.
3. Negative. Sandwich = two slices of bread separated by something edible. One piece of bread does not a sandwich make.

Grilled Cheese Challenge = Fail

Lolthien's Pedantic Scale = Gigunduous.
