Yes, someone is making a Where The Wild Things Are game photo

So apparently, there are games based off of Where The Wild Things Are in the works, according to the game’s developer, Amaze Entertainment.

In a roundabout way, the title -- ambiguously listed as in development for “all platforms” -- is based on Maurice Sendak’s brilliant children’s book. More specifically, they’re prompted by Spike Jonze’s film adaptation, set to hit theaters in October. Based on the trailer, this “might be a tragedy” looks like it could be absolutely brilliant film. If you haven’t seen it, go there now and do this thing… I’ll wait.

The same great things can’t be said about the games yet, as we haven’t seen or heard an official peep regarding the titles. I had heard as far back as last year that Brash Entertainment had picked up the license for videogame adaptations of the film, and that it was certainly in development across a number of platforms, including the Nintendo DS, Wii, and Xbox 360.

Brash – not known for their quality film to videogame adaptations – is no more, so the publisher of Where The Wild Things Are still remains a mystery.

Now if you don’t mind, I’m going to watch that trailer again.

I obviously won't bother with the game at all, but I love that trailer so much. I teared up pretty bad the first time I saw it. That book is such a TREMEMDOUS part of my childhood. I'd imagine it's the same for alot of folks here.

I love that book so much, I can't wait for the movie. I hope the game is good as well, I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Game = Meh for me. However, I can't wait for the movie as some of the other commentors here said its a part of a lot of people's childhood including mine. It made me want to try and find the book and read it again because while I remember bits and pieces I don't remember the whole thing. One thing that worries me is I heard that when they first screaned some of it for kids they were scared/crying so I believe they changed it.

Great, now they're raping my favorites books now! As if fucking up my cartoon and movies weren't bad enough.

The movie looks fantastic. I hate it though when trailers are better than the actual movie, so I'm hoping that won't be the case this time.

As for the game, I won't be too infuriated unless it's a kart racer or something.

That trailer was beautiful. And I'm convinced that no developer is as qualified as either Raven Software or Starbreeze when it comes to developing games based on popular properties. Hopefully Amaze will prove me wrong.

I loved the book, really wish they hadn't made this movie.

@Tronjoy: Considering Spike Jonze's track record erring on the side of the film being fantastic is probably safe.

Nostalgia ftw. I wonder if they're still using that book in preschool/kindergarten classrooms.

@whormongr:

I don't doubt it was, but when I had heard about the game last year, 360, Wii, and DS were all specifically mentioned. And that's exactly what I said in the story.
