PS3 Dragon Age: Origins hits November 3 (Update) photo

The PS3 version of Dragon Age: Origins is lagging behind the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. Game developer BioWare has made that delay public, saying that the Sony-bound variant of the RPG should hit “later in November.” Retailers have been listing the release date as November 17th for a while, and now official confirmation of that exact date has been given to Joystiq.

So, yeah, the PS3 version Dragon Age: Origins is hitting on November 17 -- two weeks after the slated November 3 release of the Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game.

This summer we asked what gives in regards to the delay and the word we received was that the delay was just a reflection of that version being behind in terms of scheduling -- the crew was just late jumping hurdles that they were clearing on the other two versions of the game. In a more recent comment tossed to Joystiq, a rep said that the studio “wanted more to get [the] PS3 [version] to ‘Bioware standards.’ “

This is a good thing, of course. Bad PS3 ports, are, well, bad games to play.

[Update: You can disregard most of this story -- BioWare has announced via the PlayStation Blog that the title will ship alongside the Xbox 360 and PC versions. That's November 3.]

No problem, getting it on PC, but I'd rather wait for a good product then get a buggy product on release.

By that I mean, if I was getting the PS3 version.

Was this the exciting news that Bioware promised PS3 owners?

Glad I have both consoles. I buy nearly every cross-platform game on my 360.

@Atlas & craigbezzle

I don't think so. This has been known for a while but 100% confirmed today.

Plus they said they were announcing it in the live chat (which starts in 15 minutes).

Just gives me more time to play Borderlands and Demon's Souls -- anyone who is overly upset about this delay is simply missing out on a lot of great games already released recently.

honestly bioware is an overhyped rpg company, icewind dale and the other baldur gate games were fun.. but neverwinter nights, kotr, etc have all been extremely boring games and to much dialogue, character development in these games is always extremely sad aswell, even the new character creator proves that dragon age will be another one of those your choices lie in dialogue and karma not in character creation.

I've still got to complete Uncharted 2 (90% finished). Would like to play some more multiplayer in that as well.

Then next week I want to pick up Borderlands.

Not to mention Modern Warfare 2 coming out in 2/3 weeks.

Dragon Age will have to be a christmas buy for me... will have plenty of time to play it and finish it then until January 28th when Mass Effect 2 released (UK).

Lol, according to the exciting announcement on the Playstation Blog webchat, Bioware has announced the game will be released day-and-date with the PC and 360 version. Must have been a bum source.

Why would you post this story with a major announcement coming 45 min after? Trying to scoop someone anyone? Why would that be major to PS3 fans to hear it was coming late?

Sorry, but your post was irritating.

why post a story about it coming out on the 17th when that was already known? Now you look kind of foolish considering they just announced that it's coming out on the 3rd for PS3.

I understand other blogs posts regarding the November 17th release... as those were much earlier today (UK).

But this is kinda silly.

In other news... EU date remains in the air =(

This game looks corny and derivative anyways. It's like a saturday morning cartoon. After experiencing how desolate, dark, and empty Demon's Souls world was, this just looks like some bubblegum/candy store/comic book/10 year old boy fantasy world. No thanks, Bioware is overrated.

blah blah blah rsquad, your opinion is a joke.

How is it corny and derivative? Give an example instead of just spewing forth some filth that cannot be backed up.

Are you saying that it reminds you of an episode of the Snorks, where Allstar finds a golden lamp and Bigweed steals it?

I'm just saying.

@rsquad,

You already said the exact same thing in another dragon age story.. Why are you going to every Dragon Age board and saying its "corny and derivative". Now you just seem like kind of a douche.

That's going a bit far. I admit, after playing Demon's Souls, no other game looks as appealing as it did before, but this game still should be great.

@Exostenza
I got a gaming PC, but nothing compares to the gaming experience on the ps3 imho. Call me a fanboy for biting the bait, but Bioware has been one of the developers who has responded to such claims as, "the ps3 is too hard to develop for," calling them "silly."

why are people so upset that someone doesnt like the game? honestly bioware hasnt released a good game in the past 10 years.. yet they are everyones favorite company

why?

because they released a few games on the xbox and 360 and apparently shitty games go far on those systems.

rsquad: Yes, please back up your "corny and derivative" claims. I have only played a small amount of any previous Bioware game, but I saw a thorough presentation at GenCon that left me impressed with the care and effort going into this game.

Hit to post a bit to soon it seems Brad. I'm glad that was their PS3 announcement I'd been pissed if they were giving PS3 users content that wasn't going to be on others (I'm looking at you Eidos with Batman:AA).

has anyone watched the gameplay vids? honestly the only thing cool ive seen of dragon age is the trailers.. but if you watch the actual gameplay vids it looks extremely boring... go watch them on youtube, theres a 4 part vid that lasts about 20 mins all together. not only is the fighting look too easy, the fights last about 30 seconds and you could let your party do all the killing if you really wanted to. a game this boring needs to offer depth in character building and leveling.. and this game doesnt. i mean the character creator shows an embaressing skill system and non existant customization other then 3 races and facial layout.

i waited for this game for a long ass time, but now that i know more about it not intrested :(

when they make a game that looks more like baldurs gate then neverwinter nights.. ill be there to buy it. and anything that looks at all like kotor, misewell just go pick up a book or rent a movie

@Deadaim
Huh? lol

Anyways, I'm going purely on Bioware's statement and claims that this game is going back the the roots of Baldur's Gate, which I loved. I totally trust in that since while those games are great, there are other false statements that could have been made to garner more of a following.

Also, dissapointed that this is the only major announcement for ps3's DA:O. I was hoping for extra content. Especially since there's no way I'll be ready to play this when it comes out in a couple weeks anyways.

Honestly, what's with all the trolls on dtoid lately?

Anyways, glad I'm picking this up on PC anyways, but I'm happy for those PS3 people.

@Deadaim
You must be on crack if you think the combat looks boring and unlike BG. It's almost exactly like Baldur's Gate and much more complex and sweet.
