At PAX this weekend, Gearbox revealed that female playable marines are now officially part of the multiplayer experience, answering calls for inclusion around the Internet. Randy Pitchford addressed the matter not long after a female character was spotted in the latest trailer.
"I want everybody to be clear that there are playable females in both the multiplayer and the campaign," he said. "We realized some people were starting to feel bad. We exist to entertain people."
Randy said Gearbox remained quiet on the issue because nothing was finalized and the studio didn't want to disappoint people if things were announced too early and later changed. One character confidently revealed was Jennifer Running, who will be one of the selectable co-op characters.
Splendid. Now it's just an excruciating wait until February for this thing.
