Yakuza and Yakuza 2 are hot, in my humble opinion. I'm just getting into the thick of the second one. The series games don't always get the best gaming press reception, but the fans of the games are loyal. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more intricate and ambitious open-world Japanese underworld brawler. Wait, I think it's the only open-world Japanese underworld brawler. And Shenmue fans, face it: this is as close as you're going to get to a sequel to your beloved series. It shares the same spirit, at least.
I'm more than ready for the series jump to the PS3 in Yakuza 3. Today, IGN has some details on Yakuza 3's minigames, pulled from the lastest issue of Famitsu.
These minigames don't sound so mini. Forget driving ranges, as this version features a golf game set on a course. There's a fishing game where you'll use your food as bait, and your catch can be sold for cash. Best of all, you'll also be able to play billiards against cabaret girls.
The Okinawan play area will have an indoor shopping area, which sounds a bit more tame than the other games. It seems that there will even be a monorail that can be used for transport.
Do Want. Japan will see their release in Feburary 2009. Sega, don't make us wait for Yakuza 3 for long.
