Nintendo of America put the icing on today's news cake by releasing a trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles. The video confirms that the rather nice British voice cast is remaining, which is hardly surprising considering the fact that NoA likely tried to spend as little cash on this as possible.
Still, being cheap has turned out to be a good move here, since the usual American actors they get to voice JRPGs sound like crap. It'll be nice to get a unique vocal cast this time around.
Also, that music! I really can't get sick of Xenoblade's score. Beautiful stuff.

Meet the rest of the team
wait.... this is not released in america?
I've been planning on buying this game for ages, it's been sat on the shelf in gamestation for a while.
want to finish zelda twilight princess first.
The trailer was baddass, the voice acting sounded good, and that music sounded incredible. Now that it's been confirmed I can officially start getting excited for this. This game got alot of really great reviews so im stoked.
Can someone explain to me where the hype for this game is coming from? It looks terrible, along with that other Wii RPG that everyone is trying to get over here.
Not the graphics mind you, it looks lovely. The gameplay just looks horrid.
I LOVED the British voice actors, so I'm glad they kept them. I'll have to pick this one up when it comes out so I have a version I can actually lend to people who don't have a hacked Wii, and to support the fact that they actually brought it out here... and the fact that I feel the game is worth buying twice.
Having put about 50 hours so far into the game, I can wholeheartedly say it's the best voice acting I've heard in an RPG, and one of the better in a game altogether. They're doing this rightly.
And I can't agree more on the score Jim. I hardly ever make it past the title screen without listening to that gorgeous main theme for a couple of minutes. Also the Satori Marsh nighttime theme...good someone's god is that an awesome song for the especially pretty scenery.
I’ve always wondered if American voice acting is bad or has a poor screening process, or if the way their voices sound just don’t fit this type of game.
Hell yeah. I imported and at the very beginning I switched to the Japanese audio voices since the British accents were kind of weird for me. But a few hours later I switched back to give it another chance and I don't want to change back. I love listening to the characters banter back and forth.
Vidoes don't really do the gameplay justice. I thought it looked terrible too, but playing it is really engaging and tense. It's one of the more fun battle systems I've seen in an RPG.
As long as there's Japanese voice option, I'm good. Not that I'm saying English voice overs are bad (most of them are, though, in my experience), I'm just one of those who likes the works of Japanese voice actors.
Yeah, this might be one of the few cases where being cheap works out for the better. As much as I like Johnny Yong Bosch, it'll be nice to take a break from him voicing the male lead in every other freaking anime/JRPG dub and listen to someone new for a change. And it will nix any chance of NOA doing to Xenoblade what Ignition did to Arc Rise Fantasia.
Plus, everybody likes classy-sounding British accents!

+1 for British voice acting, and acting in general. Good - or at least non-bad - acting can only help immersion.
The choir thing in the video's opening reminded me of Halo's opening choir thing.
They could make everyone sound like the Swedish Chef for all I care,I just want this game inside my Wii and with the orgasmically awesome Yoko Shimomura soundtrack intact.
REYN TIME BABY. WILD DOWN. KEEP YOUR STINKING FUTURE.

The British dub is so brilliant and fresh, they had no choice but to keep it in.
Jesus...
They show WAAAAAY too much plot, you aren't meant to see that much stuff. NOA you suck major balls.
TOO MUCH SHOWN...
@hpv
It's a very hectic game that needs to be played to be fully understood, there's a lot to manage during combat and the quick editing here didn't help any.
30 seconds in I was about to trololo about how the graphics look like shit, kept watching, and it looks pretty good. Glad to see that the wii wont be total shovelware after skyward sword.
Looks like a "JRPG ass JRPG" game: all those menus and customization slots and random cutem things... But the comment response seems to support it being pretty special! I might be down for this this, now that I've got a shot at it.
That's horrible news because about half of the voice work in that game is awful. Especially on the Mechon side of things. It could be a product of the voice actors not knowing what to do with some of the horrible dialogue and awkward plot devices though. Game is definitely not as good as the hype would have you believe.
Really good news for the US. Personally I found a lot of the menu systems to be terrible, and the way that they handle items and especially the damn crystals to be a bit archane and pointless. There were several times that I got extremely bored in combat, and the way certain activities are blocked by having to find extremely, unbelievabley rare items is a pain.
And yet,78 hours in, I absolutely love it. The good shines so brightly with this absolutely epic game that it makes any problems almost irrelevant. Despite all my issues it its still one of my favourite games of the last few years and my favourite RPG ever after Chrono Trigger.
Sweet. The original cast may be strange for some American players, but for me it was perfect. If an American team had localized and dubbed it, you can bet that it would have used some weird faux English accents that shifted between regional accents on a dime. :P
Noone is saying its the perfect game. But it has open world, open questlines, actively rewards exploration without requiring it, neat little secrets, active challenge for people who love to grind and perfect.
If you hate the voices in english use the japanese voice trackt then. Gameplay is the best part about this game. Story is decent.
Music is great, overall the first enjoyable jrpg i've played in awhile (logged about 120 hours into it, beating the over level 100 bosses)
Music is great, never gets too repetitive (they even switch up the battle music based on how your doing in the battle and whether or not you initiated)
Open world combat, feels like a very fast paced MMO. AI is kinda stupid though, especially for one character. Probably better to use her yourself.
Story mechanics work great as game mechanics and your armor you wear during scenes will persist in flashbacks of those scenes. Lots of extras in this game, but you could probably complete the main story without grinding and just finishing a few sidequests here or there. Gemming entirely optional and thankfully so as the interface for it is a little clunky.
Doesn't do a great job of explaining certain aspects and quests can be hard to find so you should use this to help you complete sidequests (and find the NPCs) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?hl=en_US&key=0Anx12MiCQejudHJfUWhOTGd5Wm1uS25ub2FDeE5BekE&hl=en_US&f=true&gid=5
This is excellent news. Seeing how amazingly well the European version has been doing, I'm all for no changing. Just slap the ESRB on there and let it loose!

This pisses me off. Way to put down every voice actor in the genre all in one fell swoop. Im guessing either you dont play many RPG's, or have played 2 Final Fantasy games that had similar voice actors. This is just a completely ignorant statement all around.
I love how JRPG's get bashed by you for having "terrible" voice acting, yet games like Oblivion/Fallout get a pass in that department when they have a max of 3 people doing the voice acting, very blandly at that, for the majority of the people in the game.
Maybe play Nier, Resonance of Fate, Eternal Sonata, and countless other PS2 (would say PS3/360 but there just arent as many RPG's on them this gen due to the hate spread around for stupid reasons such as this). Phenomenal voice acting that all use for the most part, different voice actors in the genre.
I've never played or followed this series until about a month ago, when a lot of fuss was made to bring it over here. Just reserved mine yesterday after reading some reviews. Pretty excited now, reminds me of FF12, which is my favorite FF.
I need to hurry up and beat this before it releases here so I can have the odd satisfaction of telling everyone I know I beat the game before it released.

combat is the best part of this game. Also exploring is fun.
Story is so-so, but its entertaining so you follow along.
Great game. Glad to see laziness pay-off for once (British cast > any possible american terribad voice acting they would get)

Resonance of Fate has Nolan North. It barely counts.
Like I'm from the future or something.
Because too many high profile titles are coming out Soon. There's no competition in April.
