Xbox Taiwan is looking for an 'angel' photo

We get (no offense, Larry, we love you) a dude as an Xbox spokesperson, while Taiwan is doing their best to find a great-looking young girl to do the same job. We get Major Nelson. They get an Xbox Angel.

Xbox Taiwan is holding an open casting call for lovely females to take on the role of Xbox Angel. Siliconerasays that four semi-finalists from a bevy of gamer girls will be selected by a panel of judges, and the winner will be announced on August 18th. 

This Angel will work to promote the Xbox brand on Facebook and the like, host Live events, and write a column. The winner also gets, of course, an Xbox 360, a three month Live card (really?), and about $1,090 for three month's work.

Yeah... good to see that Microsoft is stepping up to the plate and hiring a cute lil gamer angel girl to represent Xbox and promote their product. Will the panel of judges be calling for a bathing suit picture when judging the finals? What about a talent contest... not gaming... cause girls don't game... but maybe something cute like "inventive ways to eat a banana"

Nice to see Xbox advancing the cause of female gamers!

Everyone who goes EW to the girls who aren't in the middle have some seriously high standards. The one on the far left didn't take the photo in a good angle which makes her look like a stick with a large head. The one on the right needs a different angle also, her bangs need to cover more of her forehead, and the lighting needs improving. Even so, they're all cute, but it doesn't really tell you anything about their personality.

Either way, I'm kind of disgusted on how Xbox Taiwan is planning to objectify these girls for more sales. Is it genius? You're damn skippy it is. Is it sad? Yes indeedy. But I want to see how this effects sales over there.
