Xbox Originals integrated into Games on Demand photo

Xbox.com recently went under the knife only to come back with a few aesthetic changes. One such change was the transfer of Xbox Originals -- the downloadable Xbox games for use on Xbox 360 -- to Microsoft's new Games on Demand service, which offers full 360 titles as downloads.

The switch was noticed by GamesIndustry.biz, who reminds us that Xbox Originals is indeed going to die, and not just in the branding sense. We had a nice little discussion going in the comments when the news first broke, but I've sort of moved on since then.

I suppose the real news here is that Microsoft will be leaving what Originals we have up for download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, which is what I originally thought was the plan, but it's good to see the situation not blow up further.

As long as microsoft will finally integrate achievements into the xbox original games, then I will buy those.

I still think originals need achievements.

Yes, if they had achievements I would buy them. Never going to otherwise, I don't really card whether they get 200/500/1000 but just give them points.

All I want is more backwards compatable games. It can't be that hard.

@ free touch - they've stopped supporting BC as far as I know.

Also, ditto on the achievements. PLEASE.

Achievements will never happen, people really need to give up on that.

I don't care about the achievements, the price is the thing that puts me off.

Nanbu's right and everyone should just spend the $20 needed to get an old XBOX (if nee be) so you can play old XBOX games on the cheap. That's the best and cheapest way.

Anybody who still thinks achievement integration is possible is an idiot, a remake would be required since they are xbox games!

Still, I would buy a Halo remake anyday.
