Calm down, it might have something to do with the new achievement cap or it could be anything else, really. They probably have backup for this kind of stuff so I don't think people will lose their achievements, though it is best to stay clear of xbox live for now.

If they were going to do a server reset, they should have said something the day before. I mean, even Sony puts out a blog saying "PSN is going to be down for a little while today", I'm just worried that my account got hacked or something.
Happened to me,
Just went and turned my xbox back on, guess what, it is not fixed.
However, I feel it is more because I got an achievement when this happened, which probably would have overwritten the old one.

This removes Sonys problem of people staying with Xbox next gen to keep their achievements... I guess.
if I lost my gamer points I don't think I'd really care. Achievement points is not something I've ever paid much attention to.
Happened to me. And it isn't resolved, what is weird is that it reset it and then I got 80 achievement points when I booted up Street Fighter X Tekken, and these were achievements I got last night before the issue even happened (afaik). I am pretty sure now since I got those achievements I am boned.

Personally I only have a tiny gamerscore like 1900 I think, cause all i use that box for is online Battlefield 3 and a bit of Forza, so meh, wipe it if you need to MS!

Alright I just fixed mine, just redownload your profile if you haven't done so yet. Everything will come back to normal.
There's an achievement cap? That's news to me. I couldn't care less about achievements/gamer score , really, but some people are into it...usually people with OCD, or folks who are just generally stupid....

@script-br they don't have backups, when I went though this the last time my achievements were reset, microsoft told me that I was free to re-earn everything.
Tiny correction: this just affects overall gamerscore, not your gaming history as a whole. So if you go into someone who supposedly has 0GS total and look at their games list, they'll have 100 games on there like they did yesterday. A bit of relief.
Two friends of mine have told me I had the problem when I was away this morning, but it has since restored itself and hasn't even lost track of achievements I got earlier this morning. So it would seem they're fixing it right now.

Strangely, the only achievements I've had reduced to 0 is for Mass Effect 3. All my other achievements are still THERE, it just doesn't show them on my main page of the dashboard. D'oh well, no biggie. No need crying over spilled achievements. That is unless there is some hacking issue, then crying should commence, in large quantities.
Was wondering why I was getting disconnected. Thank god it looks like it hasn't been affected. When you have the GS I have, well maybe it would be a good thing now to think about it. Way too many achievements

Yep. Happened to me, just now. Completely wiped everything, including achievement avatar awards. Got all the lists back, plus my score, but despite saying I've 100% complete Mass Effect 2, all the achievements have been locked.

Experienced this issue. Had to sign out and re-download my profile to regain my gamerscore (on atleast the xbox). I got wiped around the time i was finishing Mass Effect 3. So my GS was 125 for the last 3 achievements in the game. Of course, now that the score is fixed on my end (for now) i have lost those 3 and need to start a new playthrough to get them. There goes another 30+ hours

I don't play for achievements but I've amassed a score of 89k, just about to breech the 90k mark. It wouldn't be the end of the world if I lost it but there are games I've full scored that took a supreme amount of effort to do, I would be sad to lose those.

Hope this all works out, I can't even imagine how pissed i'd be if all of my trophies were in danger of being lost forever. I'm pretty sure that sony and ms both have some kind of fail-safe system in place to prevent this, however. I can't think of a quicker way to lose a customer than to fork them in this manner
@Bakewell: Overall scores are fine. The error just re-locks achievements to the game that booted up with the message. I tried some other games and they're fine. Though, I did have to a wait until all my info/unlocks came back.
I have about 35K gamerscore. If that gets deleted I'll probably jump off a building.

Ah, the first-world problems of modern cloud-synced gaming... Though I can't say I wouldn't rage if this happened to me.
I too lost my achievements, but just deleted my gamer profile and then reloaded it and everything is back to normal now.
Well I booted my 360 up and nothing was missing, even booted ME3 just to see if anything reset, and nothing did. I guess I'm in the clear, which is good, because I'm oh-so-close to 100k and I'd be extremely disappointed if I lost that completely worthless goal in my life.
I love my Gamerscore, I don't know why. Maybe it's because a good chunk of my cheevos come from games that no one else liked, like Onechanbara, or import titles with Japanese descriptions that I stare at, trying to figure out what I did to earn them based on any numbers involved and the picture.

Personally I'm not expecting the Wii U to hit anywhere near the same heights as its predecessor, partly because of that console's lingering negative reputation (unjustified, but hey - gamers) and partly because the new one doesn't seem to be very focused in its intent, which could lead to confusion in the marketing and customer base. However, to suggest the Wii U could be 'Nintendo's Dreamcast', by which I assume Pachter means it will take the company out of the console market, seems to be neglecting the fact that they have enormous cash reserves from the money they've made on all their previous consoles, especially the Wii. Wii U would have to sell almost nothing for Nintendo to be in even the slightest danger, and they'll be being careful after the 3DS launch was so resoundingly screwed up (plus have the advantage of lessons - hopefully - learnt).
If they lose my GS I am making my PS3 my main platform. End of story. It is so much faster to navigate than the 360, with better video quality.
Just downloaded my gamertag again and it's sorted, not sure if the ones I unlocked while this nonsense happened are still there, now having trouble signing in
Just finished ME3, the ending left me in an emotionally weakened state. Afterwards my internet repeatedly cut out, followed by my Vita freezing on a black screen for no god damn reason. Later I turn the 360 back on to see my shit gone.
