Xbox Live now shows Street Fighter IV as a Platinum Hit photo

We spotted a tweet from Mister Jared Rea just a while ago, saying that Street Fighter IV had started showing up on Xbox Live as a Platinum Hits title. A quick trip over to the game's page on Xbox.com, and sure enough, there it is.

What's this mean? Well, it probably means just what I said. Do try to pay attention. Looks like Street Fighter IV is, or is about to be, added to the Xbox 360's list of Platinum Hits titles. That will mean its price will be dropped to reflect this new status as well. Not exactly surprising in light of all the Super SFIV buzz this week, but nice to see, nonetheless. Looks like Capcom hasn't wasted any time in doing the right thing here.

Just how much of a discount it will get, however, remains to be seen. Still no official word from Capcom on any of this yet, but we'll keep you posted.

I will have to be a fair bit cheaper. As long as it's more expensive than Super SFIV, there's no reason to buy it , unless some purists decide that the new characters and gameplay in Super are too imbalanced or something.

At least Capcom didn't phase out SFIV and replace it with a full-priced Super SFIV. Sony is doing it that way, and the PSPgo is actually a downgrade in many respects.

IT's gonna have to be at least half price.

Just thought I'd let everyone know Target is phasing their copies out at $20 right now brand new in preparation for SSFIV. Check either the glass case or the clearance stuff on the end of one of the electronic isles.

Aren't all Platinum Hits titles $30? Even at $20, if SSFIV stuff won't be downloadable, it's not worth it.

Sweet, now I'll pick it up because it's cheaper, just as long as SSFIV isn't full-priced, which it probably won't be (Hopefully). If it's significantly cheaper, then I'm sold.

Oh cool, now they just tanked the trade-in value for SF4 to pre-empt the wave that was coming because of the SSF4 announcement. That'll surely make everyone happy.

On the plus side, I lent my copy to my brother a while back, so I guess if he takes much longer to give it back I can pick up a used copy soon for filthy cheap.

Well I guess it depends on how SSFIV is priced, and what supposed extra content you'll get out of it if you already have the original title. Who knows? Maybe SSFIV will be a revised greatest/platinum hits and this box art we're looking at now will be replaced and revised later on.

"On the plus side, I lent my copy to my brother a while back..."

Why in God's name would you do that??!!

Well, at least I'll have more folks to play with until Super drops.

And yes, Super had better follow a pricing scale:
If $60 is a new game price,
and $20 is the price of major-scale DLC,
then $40 must be the acceptable price of an upgraded version on disc.

Also (this may or may not be news), Left 4 Dead is showing up in my "Games Library" on my Xbox in a Platinum Hits box as well. So I guess in preparation for Left 4 Dead 2 they are bumping L4D off to Platinum Hits land.

Huh. Again I have to decide should I buy this game and risk getting beat up by my fanatical friends for not getting SSFIV? Aw, fuck it!

@ Shadowii

L4D has been a Platinum Hit for a while now, at least it's what I've seen when I go to GameStop.

Still, if this isn't cheap, then it's a no-go for me.
