Ten thousand devastated gamers will be unable to download Doritos: Dash of Destruction today, as the Xbox Live Marketplace is unstable. The issue affects those trying to access it on both the Xbox 360 and PC.
Issues appear to be sporadic, so lucky gamers may be able to get on without a problem. Other users are having great difficulty getting any content to display.
As far as we know, Xbox Live itself is up and running just fine. Playing games, redeeming codes, and sending pictures of your penis to anybody with a vaguely feminine Gamertag should still be doable, so the average Xbox Live user is sitting pretty. You just can't give Microsoft any money today, and that's a tragedy.
"We are aware of the problem and are working to resolve the issue," said MS. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience."
This is likely a maintenance issue rather than a hack attack, but we should definitely all be paranoid anyway. Perhaps murder your family, then turn the gun on yourself. It's the only way to be safe!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
The world shall never know its love again.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Are you two fawkin' workin' together or has it just gotten this sad?
See how assholish that sounds, kids? Learn from that.
Anyone else pre-empting fanboys is funny. You doing it is just fucking ironic!
As an xbox owner and user this is a Bummer.
As someone who rarely uses his xbox or the marketplace this is meh.
You hope it IS hacks? What's wrong with you. The thing you should be hoping for is that it isn't hacks and that hackers have finally decided to end their stupid pursuits of video game companies for more important targets like Gene Simmons.
I for one would laugh my ass off if it turned out to be the same thing that happened to Sony. Because the Xbox crowd would be just as bad as the Sony crowd, if not worse. I mean you are talking about people who play Halo :P
You're also comparing an event that so far has lasted .... what a few hours? to one that has yet to fully resolve itself, going on a month. *(insert bash on halo)*
Now I'm off to play with my Wii (you can thank me later for that mental image you're having).
Honestly I don't have anything against Halo or the Xbox but It will be fun to watch people nerdrage about it.
I mean, would you rather a hack happen, and microsoft fix the problem before it gets out of control... or just let it fester there until someone with enough knowledge can just go in and destroy/take everything? (Yeah, please don't say "I don't want it to happen in the first place" because that is simply not an option.)
I am not, in anyway, for these hacks/hackers to continue, but at the same time, while they are screwing with the companies, it will hopefully lead to everything being safer and more secure in the long run.
What do horses have to do with this?
*BOOM*
I don't have to read the rest of what you say because saying that you hope it gets hacked is just plain stupid. You are naive if you think hackers are going to pull back because MS tries to make it more secure... the hackers will only look for another way to hack into the system. That is all.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
...but, if you already downloaded it, you can redownload it from your download history.
So potentially compromising my information, or stealing money from the corporation is better for me than just simply hoping Microsoft is upgrading their servers? I fail to see that logic no matter what the end result is.
also, Lol @ Sofik, Biohazard, and Watakashi
... I never said the hackers would pull back... again, you aren't reading. You can't make a decent debate if you are to lazy to read the rest of the posts. What you seem to be doing, is reading one sentence, and then creating a brand new fictional quote around that first line. I'm sorry you are unable to finish reading posts.
Can I just lol at you now because whatever you were thinking about clearly warrants being laughed at
Wow, honestly.
Par for the course.
Well...shit is a decomposer, its used to fertilize the grass, making the grass grow bigger.
so ill get bigger and bigger and bigger and BIGGERand then you mow the lawn. :L
wait. what were we talking about?
There is nothing logical with your statement. You saying that you hope it gets hacked to get people realized not to choose sides but in the same time you don't want information to get stolen. Well, guess what, hacking always lead into this kinda stuffs. It is like saying that you hope certain country got bombed but you hoping noone is gonna die. Someone is going to be forced to take the fall from either side. If the information is not stolen, some guy in M$ that is in charge of security will probably get fired.
Anything relates to security being hacked even remotely is not tolerable.
See how assholish that sounds, kids? Learn from that.
Damn! when is the PSN coming back up!
@freetouch: so your agruement is basically sony got haxed hope microsoft gets haxed its only fair. That's fucking rediculous.
Also. Can't we get a special article up everyday for sofik, wakatashi and co to trash? I'm sure they will earn you just as much in page hits as they do on other articles but they wouldn't be stinking the whole site up.
