He may or may not have had a "mental illness". More likely than not he was a normal guy that got fucked over by his adulteress wife and was thrown off his base. The murder is unforgivable, sure, but so was the cheating. Emotional murder really.
It sucks for both parties involved, and neither act should have happened, but they both did. Condolences to both families.
I don't want to look into any details regarding her affair, I think it's disgusting that their private lives would be exposed like that for strangers to look into. What I will say though is that we can't judge either of them for the sins they committed. We will never know every last detail, nor are we meant to.
too bad the guy wasn't grown up enough to either keep his wife attracted to him or deal with the consequences of losing her
:(
It's so sad this kind of stuff still happens. It kind of reminds me when Phil Hartman died ten years ago
@ExGazer
You should banned and have everything that's bad in life happens to you and only you.
Condolences to everyone involved, things like this are always a sad reflection on humanity.
They're the lucky ones after all, this place sucks.
Also, you say this place sucks, how do you know the other place won't suck either? Or maybe there is no other place.
And douchebags, please consider bullet conservation and just off yourself, instead of someone else who may still have things to live for.
I don't think the blame lies directly on the health industry. You're right about the mental health situation (although I wouldn't say it's only for the rich, there are plenty of poor families that get shafted on it), but for some reason I'm thinking this guy never admitted to himself that he had a problem. The only way he could be forced into treatment is if he did something (or tried to do something) drastic. I seem to recall that the columbine shooters were treated for a while, but they ended up faking their way through it.
Going through therapy and so on is a form of help, but they don't do it all for you. It's ultimately up to the individual to recognize their own faults, and accept the help to change it.
On another note, I wish there was an ignore feature on here. Kids must have gotten bored laughing at holocaust pictures for the day so they decide to get their fix by laughing at this couple. Unfortunately, being the internet, I'm not shocked these kids are out there, I just wish Destructoid would have a bit more control over it at least.
Oh, give me a BREAK, seriously. "Emotional murder"? The guy was a bonafide pussy if cheating was "emotional murder" to him. I've been cheated on; I never killed anyone. I've also cheated before, and am still alive and kicking.
If people can't "judge him" because awwwww, poor guy got cheated on, then you can't "judge her" for doing it. How do you know that she didn't feel trapped? Or ignored, or taken for granted, or any of the myriad reasons people can cheat? You know as much about her story as you do is.
What I DO know is, cheating is not > than murder, by a longshot. At all. She could've fucked the entire Lakers team behind his back and it wouldn't have remotely explained away his killing her. So fuck him.
Yeah ... I really hope you were kidding, because trying to compare cheating to MURDER is rather disturbing.
"Hi! I'm Scale. I heard you need a sense of me!"
Something else that is making me mad is people are painting the husband as a obsessive, controlling, psychopathic husband.
The truth is we don't know what their relationship was BEFORE all of this stuff happened. It's possible he was a great husband/person and she *** it up and broke his heart; its also possible that he was an obsessive, controlling, psychopathic husband. All we know was he found out about her affair, bought a gun, and became extremely controlling AFTER that.
IF he was a control freak before the affair, then you get a divorce and move on, you dont EVER cheat.
I really wonder if she hadn't cheated and had just gotten a divorce if it would have ended differently...
But it is possible she "emotionally" murdered him.
If he had a combination of mental illness/depression, tough life/childhood, not close to family, and her being his "beacon" in life.
Obviously it's speculation but it's possible.
Instead of calling him a verbally abusive, obsessive, controlling husband...or her a sleazy adultress wife.
I think we should just leave it at; a sad incident that 2 people lost their lives in.
And I'm sure there are a lot more who wouldn't, because life matters far more than having your heart broken.
The amount of callous posters here worries me frankly, since it's apparent so many are screaming "Hey! Look at me! I made a controversial funny!"
Grow up.
Well, first off, no one really KNOWS for sure, but generally having a restraining order granted for you against one's husband would give someone a clue that he was extremely off balance.
And this bringing up the fact that she may or may not have cheated is what's disgusting. It's basically victim-blaming, even IF you toss in a "but that doesn't mean she deserved to die!" The issue isn't EVEN their marital problems. I don't care if they fought over their marriage or over a game of Texas hold 'em, the bottom line is, he murdered her and offed himself. The guy deserves absolutely no sympathy whatsoever, and if you can SERIOUSLY feel no sympathy for a woman against whom he basically lodged a death sentence for infidelity, go have your fucking head examined, seriously. Or move to Yemen.
@Syn:
Phoenix Downs only work if you've been knocked out, otherwise poor Aeris would still be with us *sniff*
