Xbox 360 version of Trine probably canned photo

Despite being announced, it looks like Trine on the Xbox 360 won't be happening. In a post via Frozenbye Interactive's official message board, the studio's Joel Kinnunen wrote that the project is "out of our hands but most likely won't happen." He added that the Frozenbyte collective might not comment on this matter "any further," a comment that has us scratching our heads a bit.

The good news is that you're reading this post on a PC, and if you bought this thing within the century, you should be able to handle Trine. Get to it. Even Anthony liked it, and that's saying something -- dude hates games. This is a fact.

Meh, too many amazing games coming out on XBLA this year to worry about a port (Raskulls, Perfect Dark, Behemoths #3 game, inevitable summer of arcade, etc).

I look forward to kicking Mr.Destructoids ass in Raskulls. ;]

Shame... great game, though not as amazing as some might say it is well worth playing.

Not sure about the "will run on any computer this decade" thing though, you likely need at least a 3D accelerated video card.

Wait, how is it "out of their hands" exactly? So the developers wanted to make a 360 port, but their bosses or publishers have the final say and most likely said no?

Get it on PC. ITs good. Really fun. The story is really cliche fantasy/fairytale, but its really fun and really cleverly designed. Also, challenging.

Trine ran very poorly on my PC actually.

@ Chronic Logic

The certification process Microsoft makes you go through is insane, plus the Zeno Clash developers have said that in order to release on Xbox Live Arcade after releasing elsewhere Microsoft requires you to add substantial new and exclusive content and change the name of the title.

Microsoft's heavy hand is a pain in the ass, to be frank.

I'm reading this on a Mac dawg, don't think that will run Trine. But I just got it for half-price on my PS3 and it's pretty rockin'. As a guy who always says there aren't enough platformers out there this is pretty what I'm always looking for.

I got this last year and I've not put a lot of time into it (PC version, of course). It's a nice break from your usual RPG or FPS games in this day and age, and it's a shame it's not coming to the 360 because it's a good game.

I don't know how it'd work on the 360, personally, or the PS3 for that matter. Surprised they haven't released a Wii version ;)

Poo. I was pretty interested in this actually. I've been trying to play more PC games though so maybe this'll be my next one.

Is this a problem? Pretty much all of us have had this on PS3 for a while now.

Yes, many 360 players are achievement whores. You don't get the same satisfaction out of trophies. We like to see the number growing without no real merit. I call it gambling addiction syndrome. So yes, if it doesn't show up on 360, I will most likely won't play it. My PS3 gets used when there is Sony exclusive title. All multiplatform gets attentions on 360 b/c of my buddies on xbl and achievement.

@whateverthismeanstoyou: Bull-fuckin'-shit you don't. Try telling that to the trophy whores on ps3trophies.org.

Trophies and achievements are virtually the same thing. YOU may not get the same satisfaction from getting trophies, but that doesn't mean others don't.

$5 on steam until monday, is it worth it? I'm guessing yes but I already have a growing backlog as it is, especially thanks to them offering a package with all of the Total War series past Rome, for the ridiculous price of $20...I wish I had never broke down and gave steam a try.

Damn it! I wanted this game :-(

@dip
I have to agree with whateverthismeansto you. Not saying that achievements and trophies are not the same thing (they basically are), but I've invested so much time in my chievos that I can't help but want to get every game for 360, when I can.

And yes, I know that achievements (and trophies) are just arbitrary points and goals with no concrete value, but two of the very foundations of video games are arbitrary points and goals. Besides, they're fun :-)

Or... Get it on PS3 if you have a PS3. You know, the other platform. Especially since it's only $9.99 this week.

Well, tbh coming out on 360 now it probably wouldn't sell well. I'd imagine most people who would want it already have it on PC (like myself) or PS3.

If I could give you my copy of it, I would...

Played it for about a half hour on the ol' PS3... haven't played it since.

I have the steam version and I feel it probably has the best control scheme. As the thief you have to do a lot of accurate grappling and I figure it'd be a little difficult with a controller.

@ArrestedDeveloper: You ought to do some re-figuring then. It works fine with the controller. :)

I've made a conscious decision to purchase al downloadable games to 360. Why? I'm wary of both Sony and MS porting all content to next generation consoles.

I'm not interested in repurchasing all my games again. Between Sony and MS, MS is more likely to make this happen (given their strength lies in software and technically more feasible).

So I won't be buying this game for any other platform.
